What you’ll be doing
We’re looking for someone with a strong business background who can interpret and translate data into impactful insights and explain the “why” behind customer and revenue trends, highlight opportunities to maintain growth, and identify risks and course correction recommendations with minimal oversight. You will be required to apply these skills across a wide range of strategic, highly visible initiatives that include launches, product and pricing initiatives, and promotions.
We are looking for someone who can collaborate with technical, finance, and marketing stakeholders; and apply their business acumen to design, structure, and deliver impactful and relevant insights to these business partners. Furthermore, you should be comfortable executing the analysis and putting forth recommendations based on the derived insights.
Responsibilities include:
- Being self-driven and proactive in relevant work that helps drive VCG priorities, do not wait for specific requests to engage in work.
- Interpreting data/business trends; translating them into findings; and presenting the findings in concise, easily digestible data-driven insights to business sponsors and senior executives.
- Demonstrating critical thinking skills (i.e., business acumen) …and remain curious to evolve their knowledge of the business, industry and competitive trends, and technology to put results and insights in a proper context.
- Building strong collaborations with our business partners (e.g., marketing, finance, FPAS, channel operations, and other analytics team, etc.) to prioritize and align on work efforts, deliverables, and how our analyses will be delivered (i.e. negotiations and stakeholdering)
- Sponsoring and advocating the adoption of digital and visualization tools to optimize how we work and to drive self-serve (e.g. ThoughtSpot, Alteryx and/or Qlik).
- Communicating with stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Mentoring and leading team members on analysis, visualization, and presentation skills.
What we’re looking for …
You believe that solid data should be behind every important decision. You are a numbers person, but you also have a strategic mindset. You bring both a business perspective and an understanding of the marketplace—and not just theory and numbers. You have a knack for understanding and visualizing just the right way to share data and practical insights so that people can understand. People trust you based upon your thoughtful and thorough analyses.
You’ll need to have:
- Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
- Experience investigating and solving complex problems.
- Visualization/storyboarding experience and skills to present insights and recommendations in concise, intuitive, narratives.
- Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to influence and set expectations across various functional teams; and across all levels within the organization.
- Experience managing, and delivering multiple complex projects against key deliverables and timelines while balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in Microsoft and/or Google Suites of products, e.g. PowerPoint, Slides, Excel, Sheets, etc.
Even better if you have:
- Knowledge of EDW data domains; and able to extract data using queries (Teradata SQL).
- Business Intelligence Certification (CPBI).
- Familiarity with data visualization software, such as QLIK and ThoughtSpot.
- Strategic thinker who is comfortable working both independently and in a team setting.
If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
