Assisting with the operations of the department and providing leadership to direct and indirect reports.
Building a strong team through recruiting, staffing, professional development, mentorship, and/or corrective action as needed.
Effectively engaging the team through delegation to successfully complete multiple and diverse deliverables.
Leading the effort for developing the skills and experience of your staff.
Directing efforts in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures and policies for the group.
Reviewing staff's work and analyzing the output for appropriate accounting treatment, completeness and accuracy.
Ensuring the team’s understanding of and compliance with Sarbanes Oxley, GAAP, and Verizon Accounting Policy requirements.
Leading accounting projects to ensure compliance and adherence with controls for internal policies and external regulations.
Planning and structuring work activities and setting deadlines for your team; monitoring the progress and results of team activities.
Coordinating the completion of complex analytical assignments and preparation of accounting related reports.
Supporting leadership with accounting, analyzing, and reporting on general ledger transactions.
Coordinating closely with the other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals and simplify processes.
Interacting with internal and external partners regarding objectives, deliverables, and resource allocation.
Contributing to the overall management strategy of the Accounting organization.
What we’re looking for...
You’re organized, practical, and great at finding ways to simplify complex processes. You have solid accounting knowledge across a variety of topics. You are also an effective manager and inspiring leader. People look to you for your expertise—but they look up to you for your leadership.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Managed a team of professionals.
Experience in the preparation and review of General Ledger postings and account reconciliations.
Knowledge of FASB, SEC requirements, Sarbanes Oxley, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounting best practices, cross functional accounting impacts, and tax reporting requirements.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with accounting systems and applications including SAP, PeopleSoft, CPM/Essbase, Hyperion Financial Management, Blackline or related systems and applications.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.
CPA certification.
Project management experience, including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing of projects.
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
Experience or proficiency in (SQL) Structured Query Language to manage, develop and maintain databases or applications.
Experience crafting and implementing accounting systems, running continuous improvement projects, and conducting root cause analysis.
Demonstrated attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
