POSITION: Software System Senior Engineer

LOCATION: 1 W Elm Street, Suite 200, Conshohocken, PA 19428

JOB DUTIES: Improve the scalability and reliability of Boomi’s systems in production. Automate the provisioning and maintenance of Boomi’s infrastructure. Detecting, remediating, and reporting on production incidents to ensure service level agreements and objectives are defined and met. Participate in on-call rotation to ensure coverage for planned/unplanned events. Engage with other Engineering teams to implement processes, identify improvements, and drive consistent results. Work with Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and Engineering counterparts to drive Disaster Recovery exercises, game days, training and other response readiness efforts. Collaborate with Service Engineering teams to build and automate tooling, implement best practices on Observability, and manage the Boomi services in production. Work independently with a minimal level of guidance from technical leadership. Telecommuting allowed from anywhere in the U.S.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree (or a foreign equivalent) in Engineering Management, Computer Science, Digital Science, or a related field of study and two (2) years of experience in Software Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Systems Engineer, Software Developer, or a related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or a foreign equivalent) in Engineering Management, Computer Science, Digital Science, or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in Software Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Systems Engineer, Software Developer, or a related occupation.

Requires two (2) years of experience: working on site reliability to support large scale software systems in production; using services, including EC2, ECS, EKS, Fargate and RDS; automating tasks using Python, Ansible, cloud formation, and Terraform for IaC; creating Amazon Machine Images (AMIs), including base/golden images, using Amazon Linux and RHEL; using Azure, Google Cloud Platform Infrastructure, or AWS components; developing Ansible playbooks and automation for Infrastructure as code using Terraform and Cloud Formation Templates; defining, measuring, and improving Reliability Metrics using Service Level Objectives, Service Level Indicators, and Error budgets; implementing observability practices including monitoring, logging, and Distributed Tracing using Splunk and New Relic; using dashboards and creating them from scratch; conducting and automating DR exercises in AWS cloud to validate Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs); designing and implementing APIs for use by internal teams; alerting as code and dashboarding as code; and using Amazon Systems Manager and Patch Manager.
