Job Description:
Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site (MMS) is looking for an Operations Manager (Business Unit Leader) to join our Final Assembly Line Production Team based in Mobile, AL.
The Business Unit Leader is responsible for technical leadership along with oversight of all manufacturing activities within the respective business of the Flowline. They plan, direct and coordinate the policies and procedures for the flowline operating system and assist in evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures. Incumbant recommends changes, when necessary, and assists in implementation of new processes to support the Flow Line's world class Performance Management Center. The Business Unit Leader acts as a role model for leadership according to the Airbus Leadership Model.

Your working environment:
Near ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your challenges:
- Lead and manage the Operations in respective areas of coverage on the Flowline to deliver completely equipped, furnished, powered and certified single aisle aircraft on time, quality and cost.
- Provide direction and oversight to production activities and achieve 95%+ In-station Build of the aircraft for all value streams of work.
- Manage all budgetary requirements regarding consumables consumption, hand tools, and Jigs/Tooling maintenance.
- Address all needs concerning Work Orders, Work in Progress (WIP) materials management, Design and Work Process questions and Ground Test which performs all relevant aircraft tests.
- Responsible for the management of all employees assigned to the Station Manager and direct aircraft manufacturing techniques, associated industrial processes, industrial planning, coordinating around the product and the related procedures.
- Responsible for the prevention and elimination of disturbances in the manufacturing process and monitoring the level of quality output from the team
- Lead and mentor the employees and develop their leadership skills. Establish expectations for high levels of flexibility in their respective areas and "multiple skills" requirements for the workforce and Performance Management Centers.
- Actively manage the transfer from Trainers (expats) to employees through succession planning, preparation, knowledge transfer validation, and training.
- Lead and maintain a high level of technical knowledge among the workforce in regard to mobility, turn-over and integration/development of new operators.
- Ensure fulfillment of legal and airworthiness requirements to ensure Operation, including demonstration of compliance for the maintenance of the Production Organization Authorization (POA).
- Function as a leader in the observance of OSHA rules and regulations. Ensure the importance and company dedication to safety is in the forefront of thought and action on the part of every employee.
- Support the Analysis for the Cost of Non Quality data to identify root cause and eliminate human factor quality defects that occur in the manufacturing/assembly process, as quickly and as early as possible.
- Proactively identify and resolve problems to prevent disagreements and encourage collaborative work relationships. Engage with support staff from Quality, Procurement and other specialty areas to improve work flow and enhance existing processes.
- Collaborate with the procurement function to ensure the acquisition of vital consumable materials as well as tools and other equipment.
- Manage departmental budgets/costs in accordance with AOP objective
Your boarding pass:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Aviation, Business or a relevant field preferred
- Minimum 8 -10 years of experience in aviation manufacturing.
- 5 or more years of experience in a leadership position
- 5 or more years of experience in Aviation Production fields (mechanics / structure / electrics)
- Experience with Quality / Logistics rules in aviation manufacturing.
Technical Systems Proficiency:
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- SAP, MES & HMS preferred

- Daily decisions impacting cost and quality of the aircraft build, including on-time delivery, understanding that the impact of missed opportunities can create ripple effects across the Airbus Operational System, safety of the workforce, and reputation of the organization.
- Daily decisions range in complexity that impact internal and external stakeholders. Decisions range from highly critical items regarding work allocation, planning, and resource allocation to more routine decisions around daily tasks.
