Job Description:

A new position for a Certification Qualification Engineer (CQE) for French Legacy activities is opened within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane. In this position, you will integrate the Initial Airworthiness Department of Airbus Helicopters, in the MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) CQE team.

The mission of the Certification Engineer is mainly to contribute to the compliance demonstration to the applicable airworthiness requirements FAR27/CS27 and FAR29/CS29 for each new design, and retrofit activities.

You will participate to the certification & qualification activities for Structure, Engine/performance, H/C System (Fuel, Hydraulics, Mechanical Flight Control, Landing Gear…), Cabin & Cargo arrangements, Inboard and Outboard mission equipment (Cargo Hook, Rescue Hoist, …) and Weapon Systems. … So many new needs our customers are requiring for a more modern aircraft.


This results in a challenging transverse position, with many interfaces internally to Airbus Helicopters, but also with Aviation Authorities (civil EASA, military DGA, UK MOD/MAA, NLD/...). This is leading to have a good overview on Airbus Helicopters French Legacy products (Gazelle, Alouette, Colibri, Dauphin, Puma, Super Puma, Ecureuil) and organization. The main activities will be to address certification activities related to customers' helicopters undergoing a retrofit within AH MRO facilities.

Each project involves various contributors (Chief Engineering, System Design Responsibles, experts, customer support, flight tests pilots & engineers,...).

You will have to understand all the aspects of each project (technical content, configuration) in order to be able to contribute to establish the related certification program under the supervision of an experimented CQE. This consists in the identification of all FAR27/CS27/FAR29/CS29 affected requirements, and proposed Means of Compliance. As CQE you will contribute to establish the certification strategy, and to harmonize it with all relevant Certification Verification Engineers within AH Design Office. As CQE you will have the responsibility to contribute to conduct certification activities related to minor changes.

Your challenges:

Your main responsibilities will include:


Project Management:

• Contribute to establish the planning and contribute to pilot Certification / Qualification activities,
• Risk identification and mitigations proposal,

• Follow-up and reporting on compliance demonstration activities progress, fixing hard points, and ensuring on-time completion of the activities,

• Ensuring interface with Chief Engineering and contracts' owner on MRO side.

Certification/Qualification activities:

• Contribution to identification and definition of the applicable Certification basis and qualification requirements,

• Contribution to the definition of Certification logic, establishing corresponding Plan,

• Contribution to the certification activities: reviewing and releasing all compliance documents, consolidating the results of the compliance demonstration and declaring compliance at helicopter level,

• Contribution to establishment of Flight Conditions Approval files when necessary.

Your profile:

You will have the following skills and experience:

• Educated to a 5 years’ degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering.

• Rigor and structured mind,

• Intellectual curiosity,

• Team spirit,

• Advanced level of French and English.

This position requires a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
