About us:

A successful applicant for this placement will play an important role within the Customs department. Jobs in Customs are very rewarding and offer you a unique opportunity to understand the import and export sector from a legal perspective.

This placement will involve the preparation of Customs documentation to ensure that any shipments either imported or exported meet all applicable laws so that entry or export can occur.

Our team plays a critical role in the Supply Chain process and has an opportunity to deal with various stakeholders on a daily basis. We work with Procurement teams and Projects at a very early stage of negotiations, perform customs clearance for incoming materials and deal with export formalities of the complete product. This gives us a wide picture of all activities involved in the satellite manufacturing process and makes our job incredibly interesting.

What you will be doing:

During this placement, the activities you may undertake will include:

  • Supporting Customs Team in daily import/export of satellite parts;

  • Supporting the end to end process, from supplier to customer;

  • Preparing accurate customs clearance data entry work in accordance with Customs and Government regulations;

  • Entering details into SAP system and specialised customs software;

  • Awareness of the supply chain operation, including logistics.

  • Allocating charges by charge code / cost centre

  • Receiving invoices via Click & Buy finance system

  • HMRC Duty Deferment charge allocation

  • Liaising with VAT team on adjustments

  • Monthly KPI's on import Duty spend

  • Monthly KPI's on supplier spend

  • Monitoring Purchase Order balances via SAP systems

  • Monitoring customs financial reclaims / refunds

  • Liaising with accounts team to ensure HMRC refunds are correctly allocated

Requirements:

Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Studying towards a degree in one of the following: Business, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics;

  • Good computer skills including Word, Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint;

  • Good communication skills;

  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
