We are now looking for a Bank Accounting Accountant to onboard our GBS in Lisbon. As an Accountant you will be responsible for:

Job Description Responsibilities - your mission

  • Perform the operational tasks within the Bank Accounting process

  • Analysis of the existing processes and suggestions on the continuous improvement actions on the Bank Accounting process and systems (harmonization/automation)

  • Provide specific finance and transactional knowledge in the Bank Accounting process

  • Communicate with all the stakeholders to provide/get information/support

  • Contribution to the Financial Statements elaboration

  • Ensure compliance with the legal regulations, the accounting rules and the internal controls, following the standards and procedures defined by the Group experts and process managers

  • Apply financial processes and tools, involving financial flows and transactions according to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

  • Define the accounting structure and principles for general accounting and other financial and administrative transactions related to Bank Accounting process and supports the harmonization between the different legal entities of the scope

Detailed tasks in priority

  • Upload the Bank statements and confirm the accuracy of the banks’ balances (manually or through electronic tools)

  • Allocate the needed items to the correspondent accounts

  • Prepare and send the monthly bank reconciliations

  • Strong communication with customers and business partners in the process with a customer care mindset

  • Analysis and follow up on the open items in suspense accounts

  • KPIs elaboration and analysis/follow-up

  • Perform the required internal controls

  • Support to the different audit processes

  • Execute needed reports

  • Support in the definition of structures and principles ensuring harmonization with other entities as required

At a second stage following Shared Services Center growth:

Requirements - our ideal candidate will have

  • Finance/Accounting/Business Administration/Economics degree or experience in operational accounting tasks

  • Deep knowledge of technical accounting topics in the respective field is a must have

  • Experience in Bank Accounting/Treasury would be a plus

  • Experience in other Shared Services Center (nice to have)

  • Knowledge in SAP is preferred

  • Internal Financial Control Standards - Advanced Level

  • Knowledge in accounting and capacity to propose and implement needed actions

  • Proactivity in order to foresee and solve problems

  • Lean principles for process continuous improvement

  • Good communication skills and attitude

  • Capability to understand and manage customers’ mindset/expectations and to translate in concrete actions

  • IFRS and accounting processes would be a plus

  • Capacity to interact and influence with various customers from different locations (US/Europe)

  • English - Advanced Level

  • Other language is a nice to have
