Airbus UpNext Spain has the ambition to deliver a disruptive and innovative project to contribute to the evaluation of an innovative more electric architecture for aircraft non propulsive energy (NPE).

The Test Bench leader position is within the Airbus UpNext subsidiary in Spain.

It consists of a 2 years and a half contract (estimated end of December 2027 deadline of the demonstrator).

Your Missions:

The demonstrator will integrate complex systems including energy storage, electrical power generation, electrical distribution and conversion, fuel storage and distribution, pneumatic systems, thermal systems and control and monitoring systems within a ground test facility. Those systems will include novel technologies for aviation, and will be integrated in a new system architecture with new operational constraints.

As the Test Bench leader for the NPE demonstrator, you will help define and create the needs to adapt the test means available to validate and verify this new architecture, with Safety as first priority.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the adaptation of the existing test facility to meet the requirements of the demonstrator.
  • Identify, design and execute the new needs of the test bench facility, in an agile and easy way.
  • Explore and manage the supply chain partners needed to perform the test bench modifications ( facilities, electrical and mechanical modification).
  • Identify and establish safety regulations.
  • Assure the test means and tools necessary to execute the test.
  • Plan the maintenance needed taking into account the duration and scope of the project.
  • During the first year of the project, the role will include the coordination of a workpackage to explore the feasibility, benefits and gap analysis to take the technologies in this demonstrator to flight test.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of expertise in testing and/or V&V activities within the aerospace industry or other similar industries.
  • Master of Engineering or similar qualification.
  • Extensive knowledge of instrumentation and test bench development, including e.g. test tools.
  • Extensive knowledge in mechanical and electrical design.
  • Capable of challenging the status quo and usual ways of working to deliver results on time.
  • Well-built professional network within their domain of expertise
  • Ability to motivate, influence and inspire team members to achieve a high level of performance
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • First class influencing and presentation skills are required as this is a high visibility role
  • Practical problem solving skills as well as autonomy and initiative will be expected
  • Negotiation level in English is required.
