Job Description
Job Description:
Airbus has always been a worldwide leader for spacecraft design and manufacturing but developing satellites for large constellations demands revolutionary approaches.
With Airbus Constellations Satellites, a 100% Airbus Defence SAS subsidiary, Airbus innovates across design, production, and assembly to dramatically optimise costs for high-performance space applications.
Indeed, its subsidiary Airbus Constellations Satellites is pioneering new value propositions in space through the design of low-cost, ultra-high performing satellites at high volumes. With more than 600 OneWeb satellites launched, Airbus Constellations Satellites is the first and one of the only satellite manufacturers in the world to complete telecommunications satellite constellation.
Starting from a strong heritage of traditional geostationary satellite assembly methods, we implemented a unique assembly line in Toulouse (France) and in Merritt Island (USA) and a groundbreaking procurement supply chain.
Based on this heritage, Airbus Constellations Satellites developed the ARROW platform to adapt it in a variety of Low Earth Orbit missions including communications, Earth observation, M2M/IoT, maritime, and aero applications Our ability to iterate on satellite design and launch new satellites in quantity faster than ever before secures our competitive advantage in spacecraft production. We have leveraged resources and expertise across the entire company to rise to the constellations challenge and will provide satellites to government and commercial customers in several countries and are strongly involved in defining and developing future constellation projects.
We offer meaningful work in a healthy working environment which is focused on mobility, networking and work-life balance and are committed to cultivating and preserving our culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. We ensure a competitive compensation package that reflects our high regard for our people.

YOUR MISSION
Internship description:
You will join a team of 6 people in the thermal division in charge of satellite thermal design at Airbus Constellations Satellites France.
Your internship will consist of characterizing at ambient pressure the convective exchange coefficients induced by fans on a satellite honeycomb panel on which a highly dissipative equipment will be mounted. In practice, this will result in the development and definition of the test to be performed, then the mathematical modeling of the whole and finally the correlation of the test results to the predictions of the model. The rationale is therefore to be able to validate the thermal workmanship aspects of this type of assembly for a satellite constellation.
This internship will start in April 2025 (date subject to flexibility) and will last between 3 and 6 months maximum (to be defined).
This position requires a security clearance or requires to be eligible for clearance by recognized authorities.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
You will be under the responsibility of a manager who will help you identify your professional objectives and support you in the developmnt of your skills.
In this context, your main activities will be :
Make a bibliographic compilation
Familiarize yourself with the Systema modeling tool
Familiarize yourself with the modeling of dissipative equipment mounted on an external satellite panel equipped with heat pipes embedded in the panel and surface heat pipes
Work with thermal architects on the definition and development of convective coefficient characterization tests
Indeed, part of the study will focus on the experimentation of a prototype in thermal testing at ambient pressure and the correlation of the test results with the predictions.
This internship will allow you to develop the following skills:
Teamwork
Modeling in an industrial context
The implementation of the basic bricks for the use of a product in a very demanding environment
The exploitation of experimental data to develop concrete designs.
YOUR PROFILE
You are currently preparing for a degree (or equivalent) in the thermal field or a related discipline.
You have the following skills:
- A strong interest in modeling and space
- Knowledge in thermal engineering
- A first experience with numerical simulation tools would be a plus
- Motivation, curiosity, autonomy, initiative, tenacity, flexibility, good interpersonal skills
- Language skills: English: intermediate / French: fluent
Life at Airbus Constellations Satellites
You’ll be working with bright and driven colleagues from different industries, countries and backgrounds who are all united in one common goal, challenging and supporting each other to make Constellations Satellites successful.
