We are seeking a Regional Business Development Manager to create and expand markets for GXP across Asia-Pacific (APAC). Reporting to the Head of International Business Development & Sales, this role generates and qualifies new business pipeline, develops strategic partnerships, and shapes a multi-year regional growth strategy. The role works alongside Account Managers to mature opportunities and transition them into account-led capture and sales activities.

Location: APAC, Australia, or the United Kingdom.

The hiring location will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, suitability and business requirements. Hybrid working arrangements may be available depending on location.

Travel requirement: Up to 50%.

This role requires regular domestic and international travel across APAC, with occasional travel to the US, Europe and the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year APAC market development strategy, identifying emerging missions, customer needs, geographic markets, technology trends and competitive developments.
  • Identify, create and qualify new business opportunities with defence, intelligence and national security customers, including opportunities in new markets and mission areas.
  • Generate and maintain a qualified new-business pipeline spanning near-term opportunities and longer-term market development.
  • Lead early-stage opportunity qualification, working with Account Managers to mature qualified opportunities and transition them into account-led capture and sales execution.
  • Build early-stage relationships with operational, procurement and senior leadership stakeholders to understand emerging missions and shape opportunities.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with system integrators, primes, distributors and other partners that enable market entry and regional expansion.
  • Identify and develop third-party technology, data and analytics partnerships where complementary capabilities or integrations strengthen customer value and GXP’s market position.
  • Partner with Account Management, Customer Success, Product Management, Marketing, Sales Engineering and other BAE Systems businesses to turn market insight into opportunities, regional messaging and customer outcomes.
  • Represent GXP and speak at customer forums, industry events and conferences across the region.
  • Translate regional market intelligence into clear recommendations for US-based leadership and investment teams, influencing longer-term business, product and technology decisions.
  • Work with export, security, legal, contracts and commercial teams to navigate the requirements of defence and intelligence markets.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in business development, market development or strategic sales serving defence, intelligence or national security customers.
  • Demonstrated experience commercialising commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, geospatial technology, data or analytics capabilities into defence, intelligence or national security markets.
  • Strong understanding of APAC defence and intelligence markets, procurement processes and the evolving GEOINT/ISR ecosystem, including collection, exploitation, analytics and operational workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to create qualified new-business pipeline and develop opportunities from early market identification through transition to capture.
  • Experience establishing market-entry, channel or technology partnerships with integrators, primes, data providers or other ecosystem participants.
  • Ability to engage credibly with operational, commercial, technical and executive stakeholders and influence across a dispersed international organisation.
  • Experience developing regional market assessments, multi-year growth plans and investment recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including public speaking, and the judgement to qualify complex opportunities.
  • Self-directed, adaptable and collaborative, with the flexibility to work across geographically dispersed teams and changing customer needs

Desirable

  • Established network within APAC defence, intelligence, GEOINT, IMINT, ISR or GIS communities.
  • Experience with geospatial software, Earth observation data, imagery exploitation, GEOINT analytics or adjacent ISR technologies.
  • Experience working through export controls, security, legal, contracts and commercial requirements in international defence markets.
  • Active security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience supporting business development activities in other international defence markets.

Success Measures

  • Growth and quality of qualified new-business pipeline across APAC.
  • Entry into new geographic markets, customer communities and mission areas; opportunities matured and transitioned successfully to Account Managers.
  • Strategic partnerships that improve market access or strengthen GXP capabilities.
  • Quality and execution of the multi-year APAC growth strategy and actionable market insight that influences investment decisions.
  • Contribution to sustainable regional revenue growth and market expansion.
