Over the last 30+ years, Howells has played a leading part in shaping modern administration through simplifying the complex. We have trail-blazed methods to help connect companies to their equity plans, and plans to their participants.
We have been at our best working in partnership with our clients, to embrace new ways of working and constantly seeking to grasp opportunities the modern share plan world provides.
That is why our mission remains as relevant today as it was in 1991: to be at the forefront of effective share plan and compliance admin.
Howells was established in 1991 to provide share scheme administration solutions for listed companies with varying, complex needs. 30+ years on, we continue to focus on share plans, whilst having expanded to respond to other points of pressure in our clients’ business processes. Insider list management, the registering of conflicting interests, and financial reporting are just some of the areas where we can assist busy Reward, Finance, and Company Secretary departments.
Our secure systems and diligent team of experts have grown together to provide market leading services to many of the FTSE100, and newly minted IPOs alike. Howells works with many of the biggest brands in the UK, with some of our client relationships stretching back over 15 years.
Our business has continued to evolve and adapt over the years as our clients’ needs have changed. Howells continues to adapt to ensure that each of our clients has everything needed to ensure that one can handle complex and sensitive admin swiftly and securely.
Flexible working approach
We are remote-first, and also maintain our own office in Harrogate for collaborative work and whole team meetings.
In the wake of COVID, we found that the benefits of a centralised working environment were outweighed by the opportunity for greater work/life balance, and empowering each of us with the sovereign responsibility to achieve our team goals how we think best. With this in mind, we will usually have 3-5 people in the office each day because it is what suits them best!
We believe that the right people empowered with the tools, knowledge and guidance to excel, will do so.
Scoring against our flexibility index (1 = not at all flexible, 100 = couldn’t be more flexible, 51 is average) using a number of parameters to assess flexibility such as working from home, hours, frequency of travel, benefits, etc.
Scoring against our employee perception index (1 = not seen as flexible, 100 = couldn’t be happier with the flexibility, 51 is average) using a number of more emotional / perception based questions to understand whether employees feel supported and offered what they want. The areas we cover are work-life balance / managerial support / flexible benefits / working environment / and many others.
Management are very accommodating to last minute holiday requests and requests to temporarily change schedule to fit around appointments etc.
