Today, Freestyle is a tech-led studio that specialises in solving customer and technology problems for big businesses, through strategy, insight and product design.

We’ve always offered a flexible approach to where and when our people work - we understand that not only does ‘life’ happen, but that sometimes creativity, ideas and our best thinking don’t always happen sitting at a desk in an office.
What’s more, we understand that there are just those days when curling up in your favourite spot at home, or being surrounded by the smell of great coffee in your local coffee shop is where you do your best work.
In order to take care of your mental health and facilitate you doing your best work, whilst also maintaining a sense of community and belonging at Freestyle we operate a 4:1 home to office ratio. Quite simply….we ask that Freestylers are in the office with their peers at least a day a week - outside of that, you can work wherever works for you!
But how Flexible are we - really? 🤔
At Freestyle, we believe that flexibility extends beyond where you work.
When you sign up to be a full-time, permanent Freestyler, you’re signing up to a 35 hour week. Our core working hours are 9.30am - 5.30pm (which is when the majority of our clients are 'on').
Outside of that is real life;
There are part-time people
There are parents with school runs to do and sports days and parents evenings to attend
There are people with hobbies and sports commitments
There are team lunches
There’s the ‘coffee with mum’
There are dogs to be walked and let out
There’s doctors appointments
There are those who just prefer to start earlier and finish earlier….or start later and finish later
And we’re totally embracing of that. All we ask is that our Freestylers treat the business with respect, show-up as adults, and communicate with clients and their peers.
We’ve got a #whereabouts Slack channel to support peer to peer communication of whereabouts and a fabulous internally built Booking App (WIP!) that enables quick and easy visibility of whether Freestylers are at The Barns….or working remotely.
We also understand that for some flexibility is about how to manage their dogs! That’s why we also offer a ‘dog friendly’ workplace...and have a #dogpeople Slack channel so that dog owners can coordinate their dog whereabouts. 🐶
Scoring against our flexibility index (1 = not at all flexible, 100 = couldn’t be more flexible, 51 is average) using a number of parameters to assess flexibility such as working from home, hours, frequency of travel, benefits, etc.
Scoring against our employee perception index (1 = not seen as flexible, 100 = couldn’t be happier with the flexibility, 51 is average) using a number of more emotional / perception based questions to understand whether employees feel supported and offered what they want. The areas we cover are work-life balance / managerial support / flexible benefits / working environment / and many others.
