Mentions of

We have a great work culture at Fika!

I think there is a great culture and understanding about flexible work at Fika. It's been very clear that we are an output not input business. So ultimately we are judged by what is produced. Which is how it should be.

Fika has the most flexible environment I've ever worked in and really strives hard to give people space to work in a way that suits them. Autonomy also comes with responsibility though and I feel the team understand that its their job to communicate their whereabouts and things like that - it works well.

Fika is the perfect definition of flexible, I honestly can't imagine anyone telling me I had to be somewhere or work certain hours. It just doesn't happen. At senior leaders really do lead by example here.

There is an amazing open and flexible culture where staff are trusted to create their own schedule. Everyone here is a lovely person as well.

Love it!

Fika is a great place to work. You have plenty of flexibility with working hours. Every 2 weeks the recharge Friday gives you a day to do as you wish (have the day off, or catch up on work). Even though everyone works remotely there is still a very connected feeling amongst team members.

The work environment is very welcoming and friendly even though its remote. We also have access to Hubble day passes which means we can optionally work in workspaces in whichever city we're based in.

About us

Fika is a Mental Fitness tech start-up founded to fill a gap in our education and training system by creating a better you, better team culture and better places to work. When we think about mental health training, most of us will naturally think of awareness training. But what if there was training we could all do that could prevent mental health from declining in the first place? That’s where our training platform comes in.

We work with businesses across the corporate, healthcare and education sectors to reduce the negative stigma associated with mental health and instead celebrate Mental Fitness. We tackle the team behaviours that can contribute to mental health decline in the workplace and normalise the idea of training our individual and collective mental fitness. This leads to teams that are better connected, have better trust and support each other; especially important for teams adapting to hybrid work.

Flexible working at Fika

At Fika, we all work remotely from home, so flexibility is at the heart of our culture. We all have different body clocks and times of the day we are most productive, so in our flexible working policy your output i.e. hitting targets/deadlines and objectives, is more important than your input i.e. your hours worked.

As long as you attend mandatory meetings, are transparent about your hours on slack and in your calendar, and it works for your team, then you can set your own schedule.

Recharge Fridays happen every 2 weeks at the end of each sprint. There is 1 rule on these days: don’t put any obligation on anyone else in the business ( no slack, no internal calls, etc). You can choose to work or take the day off - or a bit of both - and you don’t need to use any holiday allowance for this.

Approach to diversity & inclusion

We know that the best ideas come from many different places. The diversity of thought in our team is what allows us to continue to be innovative and reach customers with our product. We have a strong commitment to diversity in the workplace and prioritise hiring people from different backgrounds and experiences. We use job boards that focus on diverse talent, and anonymise CVs so applicants can be judged on their skills alone.

At Fika, everyone has a voice - we care about building a culture of belonging where everyone feels safe and empowered  to contribute their ideas and express themselves. We pay close attention to culture awareness days throughout the year and celebrate them internally, making a conspicuous effort to mark dates that we know are specially relevant for some of our colleagues.

To help us achieve our goals, we use our own product! Our DE&I expert, Jason, helped us create 3 team training courses with actionable ways to make our teams practice inclusive communication, create supportive relationships, listen actively, and make inclusion a daily practice.

What do we think of Fika?

Fika has one of the most impressive scores we've seen throughout the Flexification process. With employees being very satisfied across the board. Particularly impressive is the Location and Hours scores which allow Fika's employees the opportunity to work in a way that suits them individually.
