Element is a Matrix-based, end-to-end encrypted messenger and collaboration app. It’s decentralised so that users can be digitally sovereign (own and control their own data). Element can be self-hosted, or through a hosting service such as Element Matrix Services. Element operates on the open Matrix network to provide interoperability between other messenger and collaboration apps.

Since the beginning of Element, we've been passionate about building a flexible workplace. Our general approach is to treat people like adults and acknowledge that by being flexible, we create an environment for people to do their best work. We're a family friendly environment – many of our team have small children and we look to accommodate them as best we can. 

We have dog friendly offices in London and Rennes, but it is not a requirement to be in the office. Many of our employees work remotely and come and go to the offices as they please (if they leave near one!) We also offer a monthly coworking allowance for those who aren't near an office but like a change of scenery! We also offer meaningful equity options, private healthcare for you and your family, and a generous holiday allowance of 40 Days per year (including public holidays).
