Companion
Our mission is to enhance the world around us by designing digital services and products that inspire and disrupt established norms and create a better future for people and the planet.
We aim to contribute 5% of our annual revenue towards organisations and causes that create a better future for all.
This contribution is made up of a combination of free team resources and monetary contributions as we want to build a responsible, sustainable business that not only works for us and our team, but also has an impact on the wider world that we are a part of.

We need to ask employees of Companion how satisfied they are with flexible working before we verify the company FlexScore® and compile employee satisfaction ratings
The FlexScore® is the result of a rigorous 2-step verification of a company’s flexibility
First we assess the flexibility options Companion provides and then we anonymously survey a statistically significant proportion of their employees to make sure Companion is as flexible as they say they are. Our assessment is based on the six key elements of flexibility: location, hours, autonomy, benefits, role modelling and work-life balance.
We ask the hard questions so you don’t have to.

About us
Companion are a digital product design studio that partners with start-ups, brands and companies to create new realities.
Founded in 2020, our mission is to help fulfil the creative and business potential of companies, collaborators and colleagues — ensuring that both work and life could not just be balanced, but thrive. We partner with people that share our values: openness, curiosity, togetherness and a desire to do better for the people and world around us.
Our work takes many forms — from defining and designing an art app that is bringing greater transparency to the primary art market, designing and developing an educational platform for creative entrepreneurs or creating an installation for a cycling company visualising their riders data installed globally across their 15 stores — we do not have a 'house' style or a particular kind of client that we work with.
Every project presents an opportunity to go on an adventure, to not just design something beautiful, but to share the highs, lows and everything in-between with our clients and team.
Flexible working at Companion
Our small team of eight currently operates out of Shoreditch and the boroughs of London. We're a dog friendly, flexible employer – we work as a team in the office for two days a week, and the remaining days you are free to work from where you wish.
We believe that the future of work is hybrid and flexible — we don't think that fully remote or fully in-person working is the best solution for the kind of work and the culture we want to create. We value the learning and creative buzz that a studio environment can create — and equally treasure the focused and more flexible environment working from home (or elsewhere) can offer the team. We believe that a healthy dose of both, adjusted to suit individuals as they please is the best foot forward.
We have core hours between 10am to 3pm and outside of that, individuals are free to schedule the remainder of their weekly hours as they please. Our extended network of freelancers and collaborators work predominantly in Europe, where the time zone overlaps the most with our London office, but this isn't a hard and fast rule!
Approach to diversity & inclusion
As a new and growing studio, rather than having policies to change existing habits, we are trying to do things that make changes from the start of the studio, rather than retroactively fit them in.
Our studio must be truly representative of all parts of society and the world around us, and everyone needs to feel empowered and respected to do their best at work and not be treated less favourably for any reason whatsoever. We are committed to ensuring that the workplace is free of harassment, discrimination, bullying or any other form of victimisation. We want to celebrate everyone's differences and make everyone feel recognised and valued, ensuring that everyone has the space to express themselves properly and comfortably.
We take part in and support various initiatives that encourage greater equality for all as part of our annual 5% revenue donation.
What do we think of Companion?
Companion are a very impressive business. Not only are they super flexible, but they have a fantastic company culture based upon personal improvement and care. This also includes a strong commitment to creating a better future for all by contributing 5% of the company's annual revenue towards organisations and causes that create a more equitable world.
Throughout the flexification process, Companion were super transparent and discussed not only the flexibility on offer, but also how it has enhanced the business and led to a more engaged workforce. If you're looking for flexibility and a strong ethical approach, Companion is the place for you!

Hi! 👋 I'm Myles, the founder of Companion. Companion was founded to enhance the world around us by designing services and products that inspire and disrupt established norms and create a better future for people and the planet.
Our collective purpose is to make positive change, even if it's one tiny change at a time. We are founded on honesty, openness and curiosity — we work transparently with everyone internally and externally to create new futures, and we partner with people that share those same values.
We donate 5% of our annual revenue to projects, charities and causes that we as a studio care about, and we aim to share our business learnings and processes publicly for others to learn from.
