Job Description

Brilliant people trusted to do brilliant things

Mott MacDonald is a vibrant and forward-thinking engineering, management, and development consultancy. Working together as a global team we plan, design, deliver and maintain the transport, energy, water, buildings, defence and wider infrastructure that is integral to people’s daily lives. We value excellence in every dimension of our business and continuously seek opportunities to improve what we do and how we do it.

Your opportunity

Mott MacDonald is growing, and we’re looking for a Senior Talent Acquisition Advisor to help deliver the talent behind major engineering, infrastructure and project delivery across Australia. This role will suit an experienced in-house recruiter who understands complex technical hiring, can partner confidently with senior stakeholders, and knows how to engage specialist engineering talent in a competitive market. Sydney is our preferred location; however, we are also open to candidates based in Brisbane or Adelaide.

About the role

As a Senior Talent Acquisition Advisor, you will lead end-to-end recruitment across a diverse engineering portfolio, with a strong focus on proactive sourcing, market mapping and stakeholder partnership. You’ll support business growth by building talent pipelines, advising leaders on market conditions, and delivering high-quality hires across critical and hard-to-fill roles.

What you’ll be doing

No two days will be the same, but here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be responsible for:

  • Deliver end-to-end recruitment across a complex engineering portfolio, partnering closely with hiring managers to progress roles and secure strong hiring outcomes
  • Lead proactive sourcing strategies for specialist and hard-to-fill engineering roles, using LinkedIn, market mapping and targeted engagement to identify and convert talent
  • Provide practical market insight and recruitment advice to senior stakeholders, helping shape hiring strategy and informed decision making
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines across priority skill areas, including Defence, Rail systems, transport and buildings infrastructure capability in the engineering consultancy market.
  • Create a positive and professional candidate experience through clear, responsive and transparent communication
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues across mobility, advisory and talent development to support a smooth candidate-to-employee journey
  • Contribute to recruitment projects that improve process, tools, employer brand and inclusive hiring practice

What you’ll bring

  • Significant in-house talent acquisition experience, ideally gained in engineering, infrastructure, professional services or another complex technical environment
  • A strong understanding of engineering recruitment, with experience engaging specialist technical talent across competitive markets
  • Experience recruiting for defence, systems engineering or adjacent technical capability would be highly regarded
  • Advanced sourcing capability, including LinkedIn Recruiter, market mapping and direct approach strategies for critical and hard-to-fill roles
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence, challenge and guide hiring managers through the recruitment process
  • A delivery-focused mindset, with the ability to prioritise, adapt quickly and progress hiring activity at pace
  • A commitment to inclusive, fair and evidence-based hiring practices

Employee ownership

  • Our employee ownership model means no external investors, just us, creating a culture of shared success.
  • Our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, giving them a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses.
  • As your career grows, so does your stake, recognising your long-term impact and contribution.
  • Your voice matters, with the opportunity to connect directly with senior leadership through formal channels to help shape our future.
