Area Head of ATR & Financial Controlling, WAF

Job Description

Job Purpose / Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced leader to head the Accounting to Reporting (ATR) function for the WAF region within the Global Shared Service Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end ATR service delivery, ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, and process excellence across entities in scope.

The role will ensure compliance with IFRS and OHADA GAAP standards, drive strong internal controls, lead transformation initiatives including NFTP implementation, and act as a key finance partner to Area Finance leadership. The individual will play a critical role in strengthening governance, improving reporting quality, and driving top-quartile engagement and performance within the ATR team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end ATR service delivery for WAF stakeholder group, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Ensure financial data integrity of books of accounts, including periodic GL scrutiny and accuracy reviews
  • Review Trial Balance as part of monthly book close and ensure correct financial reporting
  • Review monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations and proactively identify financial exposures
  • Review monthly NOPAT and provide detailed explanations for significant variances
  • Strengthen process controls and compliance execution in line with global standards
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and OHADA GAAP requirements
  • Support and manage all audits (Statutory, Tax, Government, Internal, etc.)
  • Drive NFTP implementation and enhancements for WAF entities as per project roadmap
  • Participate in global/regional finance transformation initiatives
  • Challenge existing standards to drive efficiencies and continuous improvement
  • Lead, coach, and develop the ATR team; drive engagement, conduct MPACT conversations, and support career progression
  • Facilitate functional and technical training including OHADA and French language capability building

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Professionally qualified – CA / CPA / CMA / ACCA or equivalent
  • 12–15 years of experience in core accounting and reporting roles
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and OHADA GAAP
  • Proven experience in managing audits and regulatory compliance
  • Experience managing senior stakeholders and explaining financial data to non-finance audiences
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams through transformation

  • Strong systems knowledge – SAP, OneStream, Blackline, MS Office tools
  • Understanding of Maersk logistics business model (Ocean, LnS/Inland, Liner setup)
  • Knowledge of LnS CUBE, Aspire, Tax, TCB, ICP and Transfer Pricing touchpoints
