About the role
The Senior Finance Manager, UK Sales & Commercial Private Sector (Industries), is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping the commercial and financial success of one of BT Business’ largest Private Sector portfolios. With accountability for a business generating approximately £300m of revenue and £120m of EBITA across Transportation, Logistics and Manufacturing customers, this role provides strategic financial leadership that enables sustainable, profitable growth.
Working closely with senior sales and commercial leaders, you will drive informed decision-making through insightful financial analysis, robust planning and performance management, and disciplined investment governance. You will play a key role in helping the business balance growth ambitions with profitability objectives, identify opportunities to improve productivity, and support transformation initiatives that enhance customer experience and create long-term value.
As a leader within the Finance organisation, you will also develop and inspire a team of Finance Business Partners, driving high performance, strong financial governance and continuous improvement. Ultimately, this role ensures the Industries business has the financial clarity, insight and control needed to deliver its strategic objectives and contribute to BT Business’ return to sustainable growth.
What you’ll be doing
As the Senior Finance Manager, you will serve as the trusted finance partner to senior business leaders, providing strategic challenge, commercial insight and financial leadership across the Industries portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the Finance Business Partner to the Industries Sales Senior Manager, influencing strategy, decision-making and business performance.
- Leading and developing a team of Finance Business Partners, creating a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative culture.
- Owning end-to-end financial performance across the Industries portfolio, managing delivery of annual targets while supporting long-term value creation.
- Driving forecasting, planning and performance management processes, ensuring clear visibility of risks, opportunities and key business drivers.
- Supporting the transformation and productivity agenda, identifying opportunities to optimise the cost base and improve business performance.
- Leading investment appraisal and governance, ensuring capital expenditure is aligned to strategic priorities and delivers measurable returns.
- Shaping sales incentive and pay-plan approaches that drive the right commercial behaviours and business outcomes.
- Delivering high-quality financial reporting, analysis and insight for senior leadership, Finance Director and CFO audiences.
- Ensuring compliance with financial control frameworks, governance standards and BT policies.
- Driving continuous improvement across finance processes, operating models and reporting capabilities.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant experience managing complex P&Ls within a large, commercial organisation.
- Strong commercial finance background with experience partnering senior Sales, Commercial or Operational leaders.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Experience leading Finance Business Partnering teams within a large, matrixed organisation.
- Exposure to business transformation, productivity improvement or cost optimisation programmes.
- Experience supporting investment governance and capital allocation decisions.
- Knowledge of telecommunications, technology or other B2B industries.
- Proven track record operating in large, complex organisations undergoing commercial or organisational change.
