About the role

To act as a trusted Physical Security Advisor covering North England and South Scotland, supporting the business in managing physical security risks across the BT estate. The role focuses on protecting BT’s sites, people, and services from threats that could impact business operations or customer service.

  • Carry out physical security assessments across sites
  • Provide clear advice and guidance on security standards and specifications
  • Support delivery of physical security programmes
  • Help ensure compliance with security policies and requirements
  • Monitor and respond to external risks that could impact the business

This role requires a full drivers licence and regular travel (3-4 days on the road / 1- 2 days from home) across North England and South Scotland

What you will be doing

  • Support the physical security uplift programme by taking part in site surveys and design reviews, providing expert advice on physical security solutions.
  • Provide clear, professional security advice, based on our Physical Security Standards, to customers when they request changes to the BT Group estate that impact on physical security.
  • Recommend proportionate physical security measures and present them for approval, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Complete Site-Specific Risk Assessments (SSRAs) in line with agreed standards and procedures.
  • Support the development and improvement of physical security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support site audits, and reviews (e.g. PCI, ISO27001, ICO).
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to physical security incidents based on severity.
  • Work with Physical Security Operations Centre, Physical Identity & Access Management and BT Property teams to reduce the physical security risks on the BT Group estate.
  • Stay up to date with current and emerging security technologies and practices.
  • Provide cover for other Physical Security Advisors and the Physical Security Advisory Manager when required

What you’ll need to succeed (Skills & Experience)

Essential

  • Strong understanding of physical security principles and risk assessment.
  • Great communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to drive and willingness to travel regularly in North England and South Scotland. A business use vehicle will be provided.
  • Ability to turn complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a team to deliver outcomes.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the BT Group Operational estate
  • Ability to meet security clearance level if required.
