Location: Christchurch – On site

Salary: Up to £68,200 depending on skills and experience + bonus scheme

Job Description:

A requirement has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of a Managed Service contract with the Ministry of Defence. As Project Manager you will be responsible for a key part of a strategically important and highly visible Programme, working collaboratively with our customers, the capability sponsor organisation, BAE Systems stakeholders and external organizations.

Core Duties:

  • Manage the creation, agreement and baselining of Project Scope for delivery tasks you have been assigned (WBS, PBS, RAM, OBS, Project Schedule etc)
  • Manage all aspects of project planning, monitoring and financial control, providing leadership to a team of Project Management/Control professionals to deliver rigorous project control outcomes
  • Prepare and submit compelling bid submissions to support winning new business activities on the Programme
  • Manage a complex range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Utilise strong critical thinking skills to react to emerging challenges, demonstrating calm an effective leadership in times of difficulty
  • Prepare and maintain schedules of activities and events, taking account of dependencies, risk and resource requirements
  • Support the management of the Managed Service into the MoD and act as one of the key Points of Contact for customer stakeholders, both through planned and unplanned engagements
  • Provide support to business Account Managers to grow the project and develop related opportunities (support to bids, campaigns, resourcing etc)

Essential Skills:

  • You will have experience and knowledge in a project management environment with working knowledge of the following areas: Requirements Management, Planning and Scheduling, Resource Management, Budget and Cost Management, Risk and Issue Management, Governance and Stakeholder Management
  • You will have experience working in close collaboration customer entities to deliver complex IT programmes Experience directly leading and managing a small PM team, and indirectly leading a multi-functional project team
  • You will have the ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programs and technology projects
  • You will have experience in preparing and delivery bids into customers
  • Knowledge of MOD / Defence Environment is desirable

The Project team:

You will be part of an exciting new development on the programme, working closely with a matrix project team. You will deputise for the Programme Manager when required and work closely on the managed service contract and winning new business.
