Job Description

Group Talent Senior Manager (FTC 6-12 months)

This is an opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in delivering several high-profile talent initiatives across Admiral.

Joining on a fixed-term basis, you'll bring established expertise and practical experience to help shape and deliver strategic priorities across performance, talent, careers and development. You'll work closely with senior leaders across the Group, providing credible challenge, expert guidance and pragmatic solutions that can be implemented at pace.

You'll play a key role in evolving Admiral's Perform & Grow approach, supporting the continued development of Careers in Motion, and creating frameworks, tools and approaches that strengthen leadership capability and improve colleague experience.

We're looking for someone who can quickly build relationships, navigate complexity and operate with a high degree of autonomy. This role would suit a seasoned Talent, OD or Leadership Development professional who enjoys stepping into established programmes, bringing clarity and momentum, and delivering meaningful outcomes with minimal support.

Why Join Admiral?

At Admiral, we’re proud of our people-focused culture. We believe in doing the right thing for our customers, colleagues and communities, and we know that creating a great place to work is central to delivering great outcomes.

You’ll join a team where collaboration, ownership and fresh thinking are encouraged. You’ll have the trust and space to shape work that matters, challenge where needed, and help create approaches that support personal growth, strong leadership and meaningful career development.

This is a brilliant opportunity to influence Group-wide people initiatives, work with a range of stakeholders, and help create positive change in a business that values inclusion, flexibility, continuous improvement and doing things in a human, practical way.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the design and delivery of the next phase of Admiral’s Perform & Grow approach, helping to create a more consistent, meaningful and accessible experience around performance, growth and development.
  • Design and embed behavioural, leadership and manager expectations that support Admiral’s culture, strategy and commitment to doing the right thing.
  • Use research, colleague feedback, data and business insight to identify themes, challenges and opportunities, translating these into practical solutions that improve colleague experience and business outcomes.
  • Create frameworks, tools and resources that help leaders and managers build high-performing teams and feel more confident having performance, development and career conversations.
  • Shape approaches to manager effectiveness and leadership development, ensuring they are relevant, easy to use and able to make a real difference in day-to-day leadership.
  • Support the rollout and development of Careers in Motion, helping colleagues better understand career pathways, internal opportunities and how to take ownership of their development.
  • Develop simple, inclusive and engaging resources that make careers and development easier for colleagues and managers to navigate.
  • Lead strategic talent and development workstreams from concept through to delivery, creating structure, building momentum and ensuring work lands well across the business.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across different business areas and entities, using a consultative approach to understand needs, influence thinking and shape solutions that work in practice.
  • Translate complex people and talent challenges into clear, scalable and practical approaches that support adoption, impact and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills Required

  • Experience in talent management, organisational development, leadership development, performance management or a related people-focused discipline.
  • The ability to design practical, people-centred frameworks, tools or approaches that support colleagues, managers and leaders.
  • Strong project or workstream leadership skills, with the confidence to take ownership, create structure and deliver outcomes through others.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to work credibly with senior leaders and adapt your style for different audiences.
  • A consultative and curious approach, with the ability to listen, ask thoughtful questions, understand different perspectives and turn insight into action.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to create clear, engaging materials for senior audiences.
  • Confidence working with ambiguity, shaping broad ideas into practical plans and helping others gain clarity.
  • Good judgement and commercial awareness, with a focus on adoption, impact and outcomes rather than activity alone.
  • A collaborative, inclusive and improvement-focused mindset, with the confidence to challenge constructively and help move work forward.
  • A genuine interest in helping colleagues grow, supporting leaders to have better conversations, and creating people solutions that are useful, accessible and sustainable.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in a large, complex or multi-site organisation.
  • Experience supporting talent reviews, succession planning, career development or leadership capability initiatives.
  • Experience creating executive-level presentations, discussion materials or decision papers.
  • Knowledge of Financial Services, Insurance or another regulated environment.
  • Experience using colleague insight, engagement data or talent data to identify risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.

Please note - we may close this vacancy early if we receive lots of applications or business priorities change.
