Job Description

Overview

  • Financial Analysis and Planning: Determines operating revenue and expenses, conducting variance analyses to identify causes and recommend solutions. Supports the execution of the annual business planning and forecasting processes. Provides actionable insights to business leaders during financial close periods to drive informed decision-making.

  • Innovation in Financial Modeling and Data Analysis: Contributes to the development of new and unconventional methods for data collection, analysis, interpretation, and financial modeling to enhance financial performance and reporting.

  • Business Insights and Stakeholder Engagement: Delivers business insights and recommendations to peers and stakeholders, helping achieve financial goals. Applies advanced understanding of Microsoft Finance systems and processes to optimize performance and forecast outcomes.

  • Technology Integration: Develops innovative approaches to leverage cutting-edge technologies (e.g., Machine Learning, AI, etc.) to streamline processes and accomplish business goals. Integrates diverse data sources and transforms them into a cohesive, easily understandable narrative for decision-makers.

  • Relationship Management and Risk Mitigation: Builds and leverages strong relationships with business partners to support sales, manage business risks, and drive financial results.

  • Compliance and Reporting: Manages accounting and financial compliance, ensuring accurate data collection, record-keeping, and adherence to local financial regulations. Collaborates with Finance teams at local, regional, and corporate levels to implement reporting processes and maintain compliance with statutory requirements.

  • Internal Control and Accuracy: Reviews, analyzes, and interprets financial and budgetary reports to ensure their accuracy, supporting robust internal controls and risk management processes.



Responsibilities

Partnership

  • Innovates with Technology: Develops new approaches to leverage technologies like Machine Learning, AI, and Predictive Analytics to achieve business goals.
  • Enhances Productivity: Implements technology solutions to improve productivity, such as optimizing reports and ensuring accurate conclusions.
  • Data Integration & Storytelling: Combines various data sources into a clear, comprehensive narrative and communicates findings in an engaging and understandable manner.
  • Builds Business Relationships: Develops strong relationships with business partners to support sales and manage business risks.
  • Negotiates Financial Solutions: Designs and negotiates complex financial solutions with business partners.
  • Customer Feedback: Collects and analyzes customer and partner feedback to improve experiences and solutions.
  • Advocates for Microsoft: Acts as an advocate for Microsoft and its partners, balancing customer needs, sales enablement, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provides Business Insights: Offers actionable business insights to peers and stakeholders, driving financial goals such as resource allocation, cost optimization, and revenue management.
  • Collaborates on Action Plans: Works with business leaders to define action plans based on financial analysis and business findings.
  • Applies Financial Expertise: Leverages advanced knowledge of Microsoft Finance systems, policies, and business dynamics to evaluate financial results, forecasts, and reporting.
  • Mitigates Risk: Develops strategies to mitigate or address potential macroeconomic or geopolitical risks and assesses the impact of changes.

Prioritize

  • Innovative Financial Methods: Contributes to new methods for data collection, analysis, and financial modeling.

  • Data Management Expertise: Provides guidance on evaluating data reliability, articulating limitations, and proposing solutions for data management and operations.

  • Supports Financial Close: Supports business leaders with actionable insights during financial close periods.

  • Reviews Financial Statements: Analyzes recurring financial statements, forecasts, and presentations, identifying trends and formulating action plans.

  • Variance Analysis: Conducts variance analyses on financial results (revenue, COGS, OPEX) and collaborates on identifying causes and solutions.

  • Resource Allocation & Optimization: Identifies opportunities for resource allocation optimization and prioritization.

  • Financial Performance Modeling: Analyzes and models current and future financial performance, including resource allocation, pricing, and investment opportunities.

  • Business Planning Support: Assists in the annual business planning and forecasting process, completing analysis and supporting forecast cycles.

  • Develops Financial Plans: Partners with stakeholders to develop and manage financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to guide strategic decisions.

Protect

  • Ensures Accuracy & Internal Controls: Reviews financial and budgetary reports for accuracy and supports internal controls, recommending corrective actions when needed.

  • Monitors Compliance & Audits: Ensures adherence to accounting and regulatory requirements, collaborating with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance.

  • Advises on Financial Documentation: Provides consultation on financial documentation, policy adherence, and data sharing to minimize risk.

  • Ensures Financial Compliance: Adheres to financial compliance standards and Microsoft’s privacy, security, and ethical standards.

  • Manages Regulatory Filings: Reviews and ensures compliance with regulatory filings, including SEC filings, for federal, state, and local agencies.

  • Revenue Recognition: Monitors and ensures proper revenue recognition across all funds, in alignment with policies and procedures.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND many years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND multiple years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience working on corporate tax related processes - such as compliance, reporting, or advisory work—covering areas like corporation tax, employee benefit tax reporting, or specialist incentive regimes?

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • Work experience in matrix-based organization.
  • Experience in the technology or software industry.
