Why this job matters

The Trading Insights & Base Management Manager drives commercial performance across BT Wholesale by delivering high-quality insight, analysis, and actionable recommendations to support in-week, in-month, and quarterly trading performance.

This role optimises both the front book (new sales) and back book (retention and churn), ensuring revenue and gross profit targets are achieved through strong trading intelligence, proactive risk management, and identification of growth opportunities.

Working closely with the SLT, Finance, Propositions, and Sales Enablement, you will provide end-to-end trading insight and reporting, holding sales teams accountable for performance while proactively identifying key drivers and impacts on results.

You will translate sales challenges into clear trading insights, articulating risks, impacts, and mitigations, and partner with sales to develop targeted initiatives and interventions to deliver sector revenue and profitability goals across Wholesale.

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver clear, comprehensive trading insight across front book and back book performance, including product-level analysis. Highlight trends, gaps, and performance against targets to drive commercial improvement and maximise results.

• Own end-to-end trading performance, including forecasting against the Medium-Term Plan (MTP) and full P&L impact. Develop data-led insights across key metrics such as volume, churn, and net additions, linking portfolio performance directly to sales activity and financial outcomes.

• Lead performance insight across the Wholesale customer base, partnering with customer-facing teams to design churn reduction initiatives, recovery plans, and base growth strategies. Build and maintain dashboards to track partner health, early warning indicators, and leading performance signals.

• Facilitate weekly cross-functional Trading Huddles to ensure alignment, accountability, and delivery of actions across teams.
Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), ageing orders, service blockers, and order flow across Broadband, Ethernet, Hosted, and Mobile, providing actionable recommendations to reduce delays and unlock revenue.

• Identify emerging performance trends and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations for Sales, Commercial, Product, Service, and Finance teams.

• Provide a forward-looking trading view through scenario modelling, risk assessment, and contingency planning to support proactive decision-making and performance delivery.

The skills you’ll need

• Data storytelling & analysis: Strong ability to mine, interpret, and manipulate complex datasets (advanced Excel and dashboards) to create clear, compelling narratives. Able to translate data into simple, actionable business insight. Strong understanding of product portfolio, Wholesale business, and market dynamics. Salesforce (B2B) experience desirable.

• Commercial acumen: Deep understanding of key trading levers and how they impact performance, including revenue, churn, volume, and product mix. Able to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that influence trading outcomes.

• Communication & stakeholder management: Confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex messages, challenge constructively, and influence stakeholders up to Director level. Experienced in working across Sales, Finance, and Commercial teams to align on performance and actions.

• Collaboration & influence: Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across functions, build trust, and drive shared outcomes internally and externally.

• Agility & execution: Highly organised and proactive, with strong project management capability. Able to identify performance gaps, develop action plans, and hold stakeholders accountable for delivery.

• Strong Excel and data visualisation skills, including working with multiple datasets to build dashboards and performance stories.

• Experience identifying and interpreting commercial and trading performance trends.

• Naturally inquisitive, with a strong focus on data-driven insight generation.
