Job Description
The Skill you'll Need
- Enables AI integration to all stages of the SDLC cycle, from requirement gathering to deployment.
- Executes the implementation of new software development life cycle automation tools, frameworks, and code pipelines (continuous integration/continuous delivery pipelines whilst executing best practices with a focus on the re-use of application code, demonstrates consistent software delivery practices and produces continuous integration/continuous delivery platform.
- Undertakes quality assurance and testing of AI frameworks.
- Manages a diverse team and creates the initial test schedule to deliver all aspects of testing to time, budget and quality targets, ensuring producing outlines of solutions and defining depth of testing required.
- Leads scale testing to measure, tune and optimise system performance.
- Executes the implementation of automation technologies to ensure repeatability, eliminating toil, reducing mean time to detection and resolution and repair services.
- Inspects queue and enable processing to ensure early warning of support issues.
- Executes retrospective and preventive actions after each high severity production incident.
- Executes the implementation of ways to improve working processes within the team.
- Continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in SRE & AI.
- Mentors other site reliability engineers, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource
What you’ll be doing
The Site Reliability Engineering Specialist independently drives reliability, availability, and performance of BT’s services by embedding AI across the full SDLC, executing CI/CD automation, and implementing scalable, fault considerate, and cost effective cloud solutions. The role focuses on eliminating toil through automation, leading performance and scale testing, improving detection and recovery from incidents, and continuously enhancing engineering practices. The specialist ensures high service quality through rigorous testing of AI frameworks, proactive monitoring, incident retrospectives, and preventive actions, while mentoring engineers, sharing emerging SRE and AI knowledge, and managing delivery to time, budget, and quality targets.
