Job Description

Job title: Estimating Group Leader

Location: Warton – Onsite

Salary: £56,766+ (Depending on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Understanding business requirements and developing appropriate cost analysis and costing / pricing strategies
  • Analysing historical cost, programme and technical data at BAES and within its Supply Chain
  • Coordinating the generation of new cost estimates and costing/pricing models to inform the business
  • Identifying and developing cost reduction opportunities within the Supply Chain to assist with cost challenges set by our customers
  • Leading and developing a team of Senior Estimators/ Estimators, fostering growth and enhancing their skills to drive high-performance and successful project delivery
  • “What if” and “should cost” scenario modelling using a range of techniques and toolsets including raw engineering data
  • Coordination of cost and pricing activities across the business to ensure all aspects of the programme and associated risks are fully costed and considered
  • Lead supplier price negotiations and customer audits
  • will lead estimating support to Bid, Campaign or Projects teams, including the compilation of final costing and pricing

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Ideally educated to a degree standard e.g. Maths, Statistics, Business, Engineering
  • Experience with leading estimating support to Bid, Campaign or Projects teams, including the compilation of final costing and pricing and help make informed decisions when estimating or analysing costings
  • Proven ability to work independently, taking ownership of tasks and delivering high-quality results with minimal supervision.
  • Currently operating within or has relevant operational/business experience in cost analysis, planning, forecasting or business modelling/analysis
  • Advanced MS skills and Dynamics to be utilised in modelling and analysis with an analytical mind set and investigative approach with excellent numeracy skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate and influence management information effectively in a clear and succinct manner
  • Have experience in the use of data analysis / visualisation tools e.g., POWER BI, TABLEAU
  • Leading People and expected to coach and support junior members of the function

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with various manufacturing techniques and ability to understand and estimate from manufacturing data (i.e., 2D/3D drawings) via the use of Engineering toolsets e.g., SAPCAMS

The ESS System Design Team:

You’ll join the ESS System Design Team, responsible for designing and supporting the Engineering Support System (ESS) for the Typhoon aircraft. ESS is a mission-critical maintenance tool that enables the safe, effective operation of Typhoon, and the team plays a key role in delivering future engineering support through the Typhoon FESS programme. This is a highly collaborative team working on systems that directly impact front-line aircraft availability and performance.
