Job Purpose:
Drive and oversee the successful delivery of M-Pesa’s strategic payment collection projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet all defined scope and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the definition of project scope, objectives, approach, governance structures, controls, and acceptance criteria in alignment with business goals.
• Facilitate project definition workshops, trainings and prepare comprehensive Project Initiation Documents.
• Develop detailed project plans outlining activities, milestones, deliverables, resource requirements, and ownership.
• Oversee the facilitation and documentation of business requirements in collaboration with key stakeholders.
• Monitor and manage financial performance against budget throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the primary liaison between M-Pesa and the client, ensuring seamless communication and coordination across business and technical teams.
• Manage and nurture the relationship, providing regular updates to the client while ensuring that key feedback and action points are effectively communicated back to M-Pesa Limited for timely resolution and follow-up.
• Serve as the bridge between M-Pesa and the partner, ensuring alignment on project goals, expectations, and deliverables, while managing any issues that arise and ensuring mutual satisfaction.
• Provide strong leadership and direction to cross-functional project teams, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Maintain high levels of stakeholder engagement and ensure effective communication throughout all project phases, balancing competing demands for scope, time, cost, quality, risk, and benefits.
• Team management including taking corrective action as needed.
• Enforce project quality standards, contractual obligations, and performance expectations.
• Establish and execute daily station/site inspection schedules to maintain oversight and accountability.
• Facilitate structured quarterly project continuity workshops to document lessons learned and drive continuous improvement.
• Proactively identify, document, and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Advanced understanding of project best practices and methodologies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with top management while presenting progress status, risks, issues or when motivating for project resources
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Stakeholder engagement & Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Tech Savy skills.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Finance, IT, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing large-scale public service or revenue collection projects.
- Vast experience in Transportation sector i.e Air, Water, Rail, Busses etc.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, contract management, and team leadership.
- Strong understanding of automated fare collection systems, smart card technologies, and financial reconciliation.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
