When you join us as an experienced professional, you will bring your expertise to work that matters while continuing to grow your career. You will collaborate with talented colleagues across disciplines and geographies, contribute your perspective, and help shape better outcomes through technical excellence, innovation, and integrity.

Build on your experience while helping shape what comes next. At Mott MacDonald, you'll work alongside talented people on complex and rewarding projects that make a real difference. We value fresh perspectives, encourage collaboration, and provide opportunities to expand your skills, take on new challenges, and grow your career. Whether you're deepening your technical expertise, broadening your leadership experience, or exploring new opportunities across our business, you'll be supported by a team that is committed to helping you succeed.

Mott MacDonald is currently involved in several major infrastructure projects in the rail and transit realms. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual to complement our team and assist with infrastructure assignments for public and private-sector clients. This role may also include direct embedment with our client.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the design of rail infrastructure, including track and alignment, under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Assist in preparing calculations, technical documentation, engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to support coordinated, high-quality design deliverables
  • Review design documents for consistency and coordination with supervision
  • Help coordinate with stakeholders, including railroads, municipalities, and other entities, with guidance from senior team members
  • Participate in verbal and written communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients
  • Learn and apply technical software and design workflows to support project delivery
  • Contribute to proposal preparation and supporting materials as needed
  • Perform assigned design tasks with increasing independence while seeking guidance when appropriate

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design (rail, trackwork, or roadway design exposure preferred)
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or working toward obtaining licensure
  • Familiarity with Bentley design software (OpenRail, OpenRoads, or similar) is a plus
  • Basic understanding of rail alignment and/or transportation design concepts preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including organization and attention to detail
  • Proactive self-starter who’s also flexible and able to adapt and learn
  • Confident and positive attitude
  • Desire and flexibility to travel across the state a plus
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Based on project needs, random drug testing may be required
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required for this position.

Bring your expertise, curiosity, and drive to make a difference. If you are ready to join a collaborative consultancy where your perspective is valued, your growth is supported, and you are empowered to lead with integrity, we would love to hear from you.
