We are looking for a Principal Solutions Engineer to provide technical leadership across projects in the Asia Pacific region, with a primary focus on New Zealand. This is a senior role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of infrastructure, technology and problem solving, helping project teams and clients make better decisions through practical digital solutions.

The opportunity

As Principal Solutions Engineer, you will help transform how infrastructure is designed, built and operated. You will work with internal and external clients to understand business and project challenges, then shape and deliver digital solutions that are reliable, secure, maintainable and focused on client value. These solutions may include data pipelines, spatial analytics, dashboards, workflow tools, integrations, automation and pro-code AI solutions across Moata and related cloud-based tools.

You will combine hands-on technical delivery with client engagement and project leadership. You will guide teams through design, development, testing, deployment and support, while helping build reusable patterns, standards and ways of working that improve consistency and efficiency across our digital delivery.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design and delivery of digital solutions across client and internal projects.
• Work with clients and project teams to understand requirements, define problems and shape practical solution approaches.
• Translate business and project needs into clear technical designs, delivery plans and implementation tasks.
• Prepare and review delivery estimates, including scope, effort, assumptions, risks and delivery approach.
• Develop and configure solutions on Moata using Python, TypeScript and related cloud-based tools.
• Provide technical leadership across the software delivery lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment and support.
• Review solution quality, manage technical risk and make sure solutions are maintainable, secure and fit for purpose.
• Support and mentor data, analytics and software delivery team members.
• Coordinate delivery input across geographies, disciplines and project teams.
• Contribute to reusable patterns, standards and ways of working that improve delivery quality and efficiency.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings technical depth, curiosity and the confidence to work with clients and delivery teams to turn complex problems into practical digital solutions. You will be comfortable leading work, supporting others and communicating technical ideas clearly.

• Demonstrated experience across the software delivery lifecycle.
• Strong Python capability.
• Experience leading projects or technical delivery work.
• Confidence planning and managing resources across competing priorities.
• Strong client engagement and stakeholder management skills.

It would also be beneficial if you bring experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, user experience design, or spatial and time series data.
