About the business unit
The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.
Overview of the role
We are looking for experienced Electrical Building Services Engineers to join our Energy Networks team working on projects ensuring the successful design and delivery of Substations, Converter stations, Linear Transmission infrastructure, and associated operational buildings for Transmission and Distribution Clients.
We are a team of leading specialists with a strong and established position in the UK and European energy networks market, supporting the delivery of some of the sector’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes. Our teams work across substations, converter stations, operational buildings and linear transmission infrastructure, bringing together specialist technical expertise to help deliver the infrastructure required for the world’s changing energy system.
You will be responsible for leading the production of designs for building power distribution, lighting, small power, emergency systems and controls, coordinating with Civil, structural, primary plant, protection and control, mechanical services and BIM. The role covers projects from early design through detailed design and site support with responsibility for producing clear calculations, specifications, drawings and technical documentation to agreed quality, programme and budget requirements.
Typically you will:
Coordinate delivery of electrical building-services design packages for substations, linear infrastructure, converter stations and associated operational buildings working closely with technical principals.
Develop design calculations, technical reports, specifications, equipment schedules and other project documentation
Develop and coordinate drawings, layouts, and schematics for electrical building-services systems
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary project teams to support the effective delivery of projects for our clients
Apply relevant UK standards, client requirements and company procedures, and maintain clear design records
Support delivery against agreed quality, programme, and budget requirements, raising technical or interface risks early
Participate in design reviews, client meetings, site surveys and inspections as required
Contribute to safe, maintainable, and energy-efficient design solutions and to continuous improvement within the team
Support the development of junior colleagues across the discipline and market.
