Summary
A Quality Assurance Supervisor works with the Quality Assurance Manager and supporting kitchen personnel in the recognition, prevention, and alleviation of food safety hazards; effectiveness of the sanitation program; and ensures the flow and testing of raw materials and finished goods is completed in a timely manner.
Job Duties
Ensures compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard audit requirements (i.e. FSSC 22000 certifications) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles.
Reviews and approves corrective action plans for resolution of audit non-conformance reports.
Conducts periodic internal audits to verify compliance with established program requirements.
Periodically monitors and audits facility personnel to ensure all established food safety operating procedures are being followed.
Facilitates the maintenance of FSSC 22000 and HACCP audit compliance systems and ensures their integrity through validation and verification.
Assists in the development and execution of verification programs required to validate regulatory requirements.
Helps to define risk categories and ensures their prioritization in the development of processes.
Assists in the development of general food safety and regulatory compliance standards.
Acts as a qualified consultant on all food safety related matters.
Supervise the work of laboratory personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures, including planning laboratory work, evaluating work performed, and handling procedural and technical laboratory problems.
Monitor quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper function of laboratory equipment and compliance; prepare and maintain applicable records.
Monitor turnaround times and perform technical and administrative quality control checks on outgoing data to ensure accuracy.
Lead the company’s sanitation and environmental testing program, responsible for enforcing the policies and procedures surrounding food safety, food defense HACCP, and GMPs.
Coordinate the activities of Sanitation Team Leads, ensuring that the facility follows all food sanitation standards.
Audit effectiveness of the Sanitation program and maintain sanitation records.
Coordinates the activities of the third-party pest control company.
Responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining the master sanitation schedule (MSS).
Compiles required reports regarding inspections, sanitation non-conformances, pest control activity, and submits corrective actions when applicable.
Recommends adjustments to schedules, procedures, sanitation practices, and alterations to pest management plan to QA Manager as needed.
Responsible for developing training materials and providing training for kitchen associates/contract sanitation related to sanitation and food safety systems.
Develop & maintain policies and SOP’s to follow regulatory and/or external food safety certification requirements, changes in processes/equipment, and/or facility/corporate direction.
Manages costs and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
Assist with all 3rd party and regulatory audits.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years required in a Food Safety/Sanitation/QA-QC supervisory role.
S. Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field; commensurate experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Experience in GFSI, SQF, FSSC 22000 auditing and certification requirements.
Working knowledge of GMP, Food Safety, HACCP, GLP, GDP, EMP, and Quality Assurance programs.
Knowledge of process controls and general food manufacturing principles.
Effective written and verbal skills.
Experience in creating formal written protocols.
Ability to set priorities, utilize and coordinate resources, and manage projects from start to finish with little or no supervision.
Ability to effectively work on a team, both as a leader and member.
Proficient in documentation and workflow.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

Travel to off-site locations may be required.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate).
