We currently have a new opening in Mumbai for Head of Claims Operations reporting to Global Head of Claims in Copenhagen.

Key Responsibilities:
Head of Claims Operations is responsible for leading Maersk’s Claims Hub in Mumbai. Working in close collaboration with the Regional Heads of Claims and Global Head of Claims, you will monitor claims from direct and professional claimants and lead on process improvement, optimization and simplification. Your role is at the heart of our Claims organization and key to how we cope with the Company’s growth ambitions.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership for Claims SOPs, driving their implementation and continuous improvement.

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring the Global Claims team deliver on set KPIs (e.g. TaT)

  • Providing leadership to the Mumbai-based claims team, inspiring teams to implement a growth mindset and a culture of accountability.

  • Performance manages your teams, identifying knowledge gaps and designing appropriate training.

  • Working in close collaboration with the rest of the Claims Leadership team to drive process changes and improvements, including during the onboarding of new business acquisitions.

  • Provide accurate data reporting to a variety of internal stakeholders, including Legal and Finance.

  • Provide guidance to your teams on high value and complex claims.

  • Engage Global Head of Claims and relevant management in respect of cases they need to be aware of due to exposure.

We’re looking for:
Essential

  • At least 15 years of claims / legal experience in the maritime or logistics industry.

  • Experience of managing large teams.

  • Qualified lawyer or experienced claims professional with equivalent expertise e.g. gained from a P&I Club, commercial insurer (marine or logistics) or in-house.

  • A strong team player with excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to work well in a matrix set up, ability to influence without authority.

  • Commercial and solutions orientated mind-set.

Preferred

  • Experience working and collaborating with global teams.

  • Experience driving organizational or process transformation/LEAN.

  • Exposure to digital tools and data-driven claims optimization, championing the use of new technologies/tools.
