The Tax Quality & Risk Management Assistant role sits within the UK&I Tax Quality team, supporting a partner-led group that works closely with Tax, People Advisory Services, Law and Ireland. As a Level 1 Assistant, you’ll provide varied support across technical Quality tasks and ad hoc project work, gaining broad exposure to the business. Your key responsibilities
- Supporting our Project Co-ordinator running our Tax Quality Reviews of partners’ work
- Updating and amending our policy and guidance repositories for Tax and Legal services
- Maintaining and enhancing our portfolio of pre-written engagement agreements and terms and conditions, scoping most of our common tax and legal offerings across the sub service lines
- Conducting some additional engagement compliance testing to better gauge the risk managed by our engagement teams
- Monitoring and manipulating the spreadsheet data we receive and reporting on CPD compliance by Tax service line people
- Running the quarterly process for reporting compliance with the HMRC Disclosure and Promoters of Tax Avoidance Schemes
- Support the team on various other new initiatives as they arise
Skills and attributes for success
What we look for
- Excellent IT/Technology skills eg proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Sharepoint. Power BI
- Knowledge of Quality and Risk Management/Compliance would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
- Knowledge of the Tax and Legal practice work would be an advantage but is not essential.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Has the ability to quickly take on new tasks, develop new skills and learn technical matters.
- Shows a keen attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Has good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and is able to deal tactfully with the many partners, managers and other staff across the Region.
- High energy, enthusiasm and positive attitude, is able to take the initiative.
- Is well organised and methodical.
- Good process and project management skills.
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Someone who is keen to learn and progress.The ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion on sensitive matters.
