Director, Marketing Transformation

About EY Marketing Transformation

Growth at EY comes from solving the most important challenges for our clients—helping them transform their marketing organisations to drive sustainable brand engagement, customer acquisition, and market leadership. The Marketing Transformation Practice within EY Studio+ partners with organisations to reimagine marketing strategies, processes, and technologies, enabling high-performing teams and future-ready marketing capabilities.

We are a diverse group of marketing strategists, transformation consultants, and technologists. We deliver full-service business transformation, building a better working world by creating new ways to serve clients and help them grow. Our team leverages advanced AI, analytics, and automation to unlock new opportunities and drive measurable impact.

The Opportunity

As a Director in the Marketing Transformation Team, you will be a senior leader within EY Studio+, accountable for shaping the strategic direction of the practice, building and owning trusted C-suite client relationships, and driving profitable, sustainable growth. You will set the vision for how EY reimagines marketing for our clients combining marketing strategy, AI and digital innovation, data, and change management to deliver transformation at enterprise scale.

This is a senior client-facing leadership role that blends market-shaping, commercial ownership, and people leadership. You will lead complex, multi-workstream engagements and programmes, own significant revenue and sales targets, champion our go-to-market propositions, and act as a role model and coach for Senior Managers, Managers, and Consultants across the practice. You will operate as a member of the practice leadership team, influencing strategy, investment, and capability-building across sectors such as financial services, energy, and government.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set practice direction: Shape and drive the strategy, propositions, and growth agenda for Marketing Transformation within EY Studio+, in line with the firm’s ambitions.
  • Own commercial performance: Take responsibility for revenue, margin, sales pipeline, and P&L outcomes, leading origination, pricing, resourcing, and profitable delivery across a portfolio of clients.
  • Build C-suite relationships: Develop and own trusted, long-term relationships with CMOs, senior marketing leaders, and other C-suite stakeholders, positioning EY as the partner of choice for marketing transformation.
  • Lead major engagements: Provide executive oversight and quality assurance across large transformation programmes, ensuring outcomes are delivered to the highest standard and on commercial terms.
  • Drive business development: Lead origination and conversion of new opportunities, own key pursuits and proposals, and shape compelling, differentiated propositions that win in the market.
  • Champion AI-enabled transformation: Set the vision for the adoption of AI, machine learning, analytics, and automation across our propositions and client work, keeping EY at the forefront of marketing innovation.
  • Shape operating models at scale: Guide clients on enterprise marketing operating models, governance, organisational design, and capability build to enable efficiency, agility, and growth.
  • Lead and develop talent: Build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams; coach and sponsor Senior Managers and Managers; and drive recruitment, retention, and career development across the practice.
  • Build market presence: Establish EY’s reputation and thought leadership in marketing transformation through external profile, publications, events, and eminence, generating demand and brand equity.
  • Collaborate across EY: Partner with Technology, Strategy, Tax, and People Consulting leadership to bring the full breadth of the firm to clients and deliver integrated, differentiated solutions.
  • Grow the practice: Contribute to practice leadership, investment decisions, alliances and partnerships, and the development of assets, methodologies, and capabilities.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Deep expertise across marketing strategy, transformation, and the application of AI and data in marketing, with a proven track record of shaping and delivering at enterprise scale.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with demonstrable experience owning revenue, sales, and P&L targets and converting relationships into sustainable growth.
  • Executive presence and gravitas, with the ability to influence, challenge, and advise C-suite stakeholders.
  • Inspirational leadership, with a track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, underpinned by data-driven decision-making.
  • Outstanding communication, storytelling, and stakeholder-management skills, internally and externally.

To Qualify for the Role, You Must Have

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in marketing transformation, marketing strategy, or related consulting fields.
  • A demonstrable track record of business development and commercial ownership, including originating and closing large, complex engagements.
  • Experience across several of the following: marketing operating-model design, CRM and martech implementation, marketing enablement, marketing analytics, AI-powered marketing tools, change management, digital marketing platforms, and marketing capability development.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow a practice or business unit, including people, propositions, and financial performance.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

  • Deep experience embedding AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics into marketing environments and propositions.
  • An established external profile and network, with recognised eminence in marketing transformation.
  • A background in management consulting or other client-facing professional services at senior leadership level.
  • A degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field, and/or industry-recognised accreditation (e.g., CIM) or certifications (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe).
