CDD Team Manager (L3) – Permanent
The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Manager to join our Central Due Diligence team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering operations and compliance from a KYC/CDD perspective for the UK&I service lines. Responsibilities include leading a sub team to ensure timely and thorough due diligence, identifying and closing gaps in the CDD process, maintaining quality standards, reporting to senior stakeholders, and leading various strategic projects.
This role involves serving as the primary subject matter expert on AML due diligence for the business. The successful candidate will provide compliant and pragmatic CDD advice to Engagement Partners and their teams, assisting them in navigating CDD requirements. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with others to establish and maintain high standards of work within a team environment. This position reports to Central CDD Leadership, Financial Crime, based in Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities
You will, as a Manager, be a key part of the Central CDD Team. Responsibilities include:
- Manage a sub team of eight analysts, seniors and assistant managers. This will require taking ownership of issues, leading by example, undertaking performance management of the team, act as recruiter contact and interviewer for vacant positions within your team, acting as a relationship manager between the CDD team & the business and providing support for client facing teams in the navigation our CDD requirements.
- Train, upskill, mentor, and coach the team to ensure high-quality output and maintain strong morale.
- Encourage client facing staff and CDD analysts to engage and work collaboratively together.
- Responsibility for Change Management within the CDD function.
- Responsibility for the CDD oversight of and responsibility for SLA adherence and high quality standards within your sub team.
- Other tasks, as directed by Central CDD Team Senior Management including Scorecard items.
Skills and attributes for success
- Experience in managing financial crime regulatory compliance at a similar level in a sophisticated business environment
- Strong technical experience
- Strong communication skills, capable of dealing with a wide range of staff all the way to a senior level
- Experience of managing and developing others
- Operational excellence skills in managing and improving quality, and effectively managing change into the team
- Adopts a ‘can do’ attitude and acts as a role model for more junior members of the team
- Ability to establish a high degree of credibility, respect and trust at all levels
- Proven ability to devise and implement appropriate system and process improvements
- Project Management and implementation experience is desirable
- Ability to take risk-based decisions and provide substantiated arguments
- Effective planning and organising skills to prioritise key areas of responsibility, tasks and projects
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience at a manager or assistant manager level in CDD/KYC within a regulated environment.
- Previous experience leading a team, monitoring performance management of team members, as well as coaching and/or mentoring colleagues.
- Good understanding of AML legislation, sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening.
- Experience handling complex cases and supporting others in their resolution.
- Exposure to workflow management, MI/KRI reporting, or process improvement is an advantage.
- Previous experience leading a team, monitoring performance management of team members, as well as coaching and/or mentoring colleagues.
- Education to degree standard is an advantage; relevant certifications (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) are desirable.
