Job Description

Head of Grocery & Retail - Ireland

Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation, and growth drives everything we do. Our Commercial team sits at the centre of Deliveroo’s marketplace—shaping how we serve restaurants, grocers, and new verticals worldwide. From negotiating key partnerships to unlocking new revenue streams and crafting data-led growth strategies, we take on big challenges that move the business forward. If you thrive in fast-paced, commercial environments and want to influence the future of a global brand—this is the team for you.

We’re looking for a Head of Grocery & Retail to join our Ireland team. In this role, you’ll help us grow our selection of partners and build long-lasting, meaningful partnerships with major brands, shaping the next chapter of growth for our new verticals portfolio.

Get to know our Commercial team — what drives us, how we work, and what you can expect.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining the New Verticals team. This is a unique opportunity to advance our growth in Ireland by managing the end-to-end process of new business development and strategic account management.

Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:

  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Own the new business strategy in Ireland, defining the commercial roadmap and partner value proposition for the grocery segment.

  • New Business Acquisition: Act as a "hunter" to pitch, negotiate, and onboard high-profile partners, agreeing on terms that unlock mutual long-term value.

  • Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and develop an Account Manager, fostering an inclusive and high-performance team culture.

  • Strategic Partnership: Act as a trusted advisor to new and existing partners, working cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Ops, and Tech to supercharge brand growth.

  • Launch Execution: Define and execute robust launch plans for new partners, ensuring Deliveroo is established as their preferred partner of choice from day one.

  • Stakeholder Management: Ensure senior leadership is aligned on the Ireland market position and provide the necessary insights to secure business-wide support.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Essential

  • Industry Expertise: Significant experience within the Grocery, Retail, or FMCG industries is required.

  • Commercial Leadership: Extensive experience in commercial, business development, or sales roles (typically 9+ years) with a proven track record of revenue growth.

  • Negotiation Mastery: Proven ability to lead complex, high-value commercial negotiations and manage senior-level stakeholders with ease.

  • Strategic Mindset: A problem solver who can navigate significant growth challenges and move between long-term strategy and immediate execution.

  • Team Development: Experience in managing and coaching team members to drive engagement and high performance.

Nice to Have

  • Cross-Functional Savvy: A strong understanding of how marketing, ops, tech, and finance intersect to drive marketplace success.

  • Operational Autonomy: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage a complex portfolio independently.
