Job Description

Finance & Strategy Associate

Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation, and growth drive everything we do. Our Finance & Strategy team is the analytical engine of Deliveroo—shaping the commercial direction of the business and ensuring we hit our ambitious financial targets. As we expand beyond takeaway into the rapid grocery and retail sectors, we need sharp, strategic thinkers to build the future of our New Verticals business in Italy.

We’re looking for a Finance & Strategy Associate to join our team in Milan. Reporting to the Finance & Strategy Director, you will act as a high-impact business partner, using financial modeling and strategic analysis to grow our market share in the grocery and retail space.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be deeply embedded in the Italian market, challenging the status quo and driving innovation through data-driven decision-making.

  • Strategic & Financial Planning: Support our three-step annual planning process. You will diagnose pain points, design the grocery/retail strategy, and build complex financial models for budget iterations.

  • Strategy Execution & Monitoring: Drive the execution of our plans through rigorous reporting. This includes:

    • WBR (Weekly Business Review): Conducting ad-hoc analysis to understand performance trends.

    • Regional Performance Tracking: Monitoring the execution of the New Verticals plan across Italy.

    • MBR (Monthly Business Review): Identifying opportunities for course correction and growth.

  • Investment & Deal Approval: Support decision-making for major partner deals. You will analyze P&L impacts, ensure alignment with budget constraints, and maintain consistency in commercial conditions across the market.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Build relationships with senior stakeholders across Finance, Commercial, and Operations to ensure accountability and goal achievement.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

We are looking for an analytical "power user" who can thrive in a high-growth, matrixed environment:

  • Experience: 1–3 years in strategy consulting, M&A, Private Equity, or a high-growth tech/consumer-facing company.

  • Education: A Master’s degree in a relevant field.

  • Technical Skills: Excellent numerical skills with advanced proficiency in GSuite (GSheets & GSlides).

  • Communication: Strong ability to influence and interact across different levels of the organization. Professional fluency in English is required.

  • Mindset: A self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity, tight deadlines, and the pace of a technology-driven marketplace.

Why Join Us?

At Deliveroo, you’ll solve one of the most complex real-time marketplace challenges in the world. Working here you can expect to:

  • 🚀 Drive the Next Wave of Growth: New Verticals (Grocery & Retail) is one of our most exciting and rapidly expanding segments.

  • 💡 Autonomy and Ownership: We value new ideas and empower you to challenge how we do things.

  • 📈 High-Level Exposure: Work directly with senior leadership to shape the strategy for the Italian market.

At Deliveroo, we believe a great workplace reflects the world around us. We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture where every perspective is valued.
