Job Description

Tax Manager (UK Direct Tax)

Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation, and growth drive everything we do. Our Finance and Tax teams sit at the core of Deliveroo’s global operations—ensuring our business remains resilient, compliant, and strategically positioned as we scale. If you thrive in fast-paced, matrixed environments and want to influence the tax landscape of a global tech brand, this is the team for you.

We’re looking for a Tax Manager to join our UK Direct Tax function. Reporting to the Head of Direct Tax, you will be a key player in our "engine room," ensuring flawless compliance and precise reporting across a newly integrated "One Team" structure that includes colleagues from DoorDash and Wolt.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will manage the end-to-end execution of UK Corporate Tax, moving seamlessly between granular compliance and high-level strategic advisory.

  • Corporate Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation and filing of Corporate Income Tax returns for Deliveroo entities, managing external advisors to ensure high-quality, timely submissions.

  • Tax Reporting: Drive the calculation of current and deferred tax provisions under US GAAP and IFRS. You will contribute critical data for global US SEC reporting and group provision cycles.

  • Operational Advisory: Act as a business partner to Finance, Legal, and HR, providing guidance on contract tax implications, deductibility, and operational transfer pricing.

  • Audit & Controversy: Lead relationships with tax authorities, managing enquiries and local audits to successful conclusions.

  • Risk Governance: Maintain the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) framework and the Group’s tax risk and controls matrix.

  • Innovation: Continuously enhance tax processes by identifying opportunities to implement new technology and AI tools for greater efficiency.

What You’ll Need to Thrive

Our ideal candidate combines technical excellence with a collaborative, problem-solving mindset:

  • Qualifications: CTA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification.

  • Experience: 4–6 years of experience in corporate tax, ideally starting in a major accounting firm followed by in-house experience in a multinational tech environment.

  • Technical Mastery: Strong expertise in UK Corporate Tax and IFRS/US GAAP tax accounting. Experience with software like OneSource is a strong advantage.

  • Matrix Collaboration: Comfortable working across international jurisdictions (UK, US, Finland) and building relationships in a fast-paced environment.

  • Integrity & Detail: A pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach with a high level of integrity and meticulous attention to detail.

Why Join Us?

At Deliveroo, you’ll do work that matters, solving real-world problems in a marketplace that’s constantly evolving. Working here you can expect to:

  • 🔧 Make a visible impact every day: Your work ensures the financial integrity and compliance of a global leader.

  • 🌱 Learn and Grow: Operate within a "One Team" structure that shares global tax expertise across three major brands.

  • 🧠 Build a career, not just a role: Take ownership of complex projects with the autonomy to iterate on global processes.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At Deliveroo, we know that a great workplace reflects the world around us and that true diversity and inclusion make us stronger, more creative, and better at what we do. We’re committed to fostering an environment where everyone can do their best work and feel they belong.

We believe in equality of opportunity and welcome candidates from all backgrounds regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion, or belief.

If you have a disability or long-term health condition and need support to apply for one of our roles, or if you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please contact our recruitment team at accommodations@deliveroo.co.uk and we’ll be happy to help ensure you have a fair and equitable experience.
