Why this job matters

Our internal networks are the beating heart of everything we do across BT, the veins and arteries without which our company could not operate. This job ensures that the network connectivity is available from the user’s desk to the services they need in BT datacentres or in the Cloud, to other users or functions in the rest of BT or to the internet. This role underpins the work that people do across BT, in buildings, call-centres, operational sites, offices and exchanges, and functions from billing to security to Teams, all depend on our own-use internal networks.

What you’ll be doing

The Platform Manager is responsible for the management, development/evolution and in-life performance of BTs Internal Networks estate.
The role involves management of in-life issues, platform upgrades, co-ordination of new requirements and incremental capacity upgrades (and platform closure), managing the demand from multiple stakeholders within resource constraints, management of capital budgets and cost recovery processes.
Specifically this role is accountable for:
• Platform capacity, security, creation of specific platform roadmaps and associated budgets, service and platform related deliverables and overall platform sustainability.
• Management of all platform registrations, maintain platform risks in conformance with compliance policies.
• Platform sparing to meet reliability and availability measures.
• Network inventory system management, data quality and roadmap.
• Be accountable as coordinator for platform audits and maintaining Business Continuity Management recovery plans for key platforms.
• Lead workstack priortisation, resourcing and stakeholder management including demand forecasting.
• Management and closure of legacy platforms, working with peers to coordinate the recovery of network assets for reuse/disposal.
• Own and deliver strategic investment choices to underpin the platform roadmaps.
• Manage Capex budget spend for all platform work aligned to strategy.
• Cost modeling and recovery for customer driven requirements.

Skills and Experience

Provide detailed information on any qualifications, technical expertise or security clearance that you will need for the job.
• Financial Literacy: Knowledgeable in the finance Capex & Opex processes and ability to create business cases to secure funding.
• Security compliance: Maintaining compliance to appropriate Security standards/specifications.
• Organisation and prioritisation: Ability to manage conflicting priorities whilst moving projects forwards. Co-ordinating activities that span several teams. Strong collaboration skills.
• Stakeholder management: Ability to work with and manage various stakeholders both within the team and without. Includes 3rd parties.
• Data Analysis: Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills. Drawing on data and analytical techniques to support decision making.
• Communication: effective communication with different audiences.
