You’ll collaborate within a dynamic team to design and deliver automated open-source scripts, tools, and test solutions that address complex technical and business challenges. What you’ll be doing

  • Support daytoday testing activities across BT Mobile Innovation Labs.
  • Ensure reliable mobile handset connectivity to the EE/BT Mobile Network and associated test environments.
  • Maintain lab readiness by configuring devices, SIMs, tools, and connectivity equipment.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues across RAN, devices, logging tools, network access, and lab platforms.
  • Perform rootcause analysis on connectivity issues and escalate to engineering teams where required.
  • Build tools and databases to support configuration changes, track assets and conduct health checks.
  • Create dashboards and reporting solutions to track lab usage, device behaviour, network performance, and issue trends.
  • Document processes, maintain configuration records, and support continual improvement of lab systems.
  • Act as the primary contact for remote engineers accessing Bristol labs.
  • Provide technical support for configuration, device setup, log capture and analysis, and environment access.
  • Manage incident intake, triage, resolution tracking, and communication updates.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal customers and engineering partners.

The skills you'll need

  • Awareness of concepts like cell sites, radio access, signal strength, network registration, etc.
  • Understanding of SIM profiles, APNs, device provisioning.
  • Willingness to learn how EE/BT mobile networks behave in real test conditions
  • Comfortable configuring and handling: Test handsets, tablets, routers SIMs and eSIM profiles
  • Test rigs, attenuators, RF enclosures, chargers, hubs
  • Ability to follow standard setup procedures for devices and tools used across the labs.
  • Basic diagnostic skills for: WiFi, mobile data, VoLTE, VoWiFi, USB, ADB, cable connections, drivers
  • Common Android & iOS device behaviours
  • Ability to run structured troubleshooting steps and escalate with clear evidence Shape
  • Mobile log capture tools (e.g, Device logs)
  • Network analysis basics (signal metrics, call flows)
  • Understanding how log files feed into issue diagnosis, health checks and reporting.
  • Exposure to Power BI, dashboards and simple data visualisation, Power Automate, SharePoint Lists, Power Apps
  • Simple SQL/query concepts
  • Intro-level PowerShell understanding (or strong willingness to learn)
  • Health checks , File processing, Data extraction
  • Understanding version control basics (Git) desirable but not required.
  • Understanding lab access flows: Jump servers / remote access, VPN basics, Basic Windows/Mac troubleshooting
  • Ability to support remote engineers accessing lab environments
  • Hands-on familiarity with: Inventory systems, Booking systems, Asset tracking, Managing device/SIM allocations
