About the role
We are looking for an AI Software Engineer with hands-on experience building AI-powered solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), AI Agents and Agentic AI frameworks.
Joining a newly established AI capability within BT's Digital Finance organisation, you'll support a major ERP transformation programme by designing, building and deploying AI solutions that improve delivery across the full programme lifecycle. Working closely with technical teams, product stakeholders and industry partners, you'll help identify opportunities where AI can drive measurable business value and deliver practical solutions at enterprise scale.
This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of AI adoption within BT, helping to shape how AI Agents, machine learning and LLM technologies are applied across a complex business transformation programme.
What you’ll be doing
Designing, developing and deploying AI-powered solutions to solve business problems.
Building and implementing AI Agents and Agentic AI workflows using modern AI frameworks and platforms.
Developing LLM-powered applications and integrating them with enterprise systems and data sources.
Collaborating with business and product teams to translate requirements into scalable AI solutions.
Creating proof-of-concepts and pilot solutions to demonstrate AI capabilities across requirements gathering, testing, deployment, communications and change management activities.
Writing, testing, reviewing and maintaining high-quality code.
Integrating machine learning and AI capabilities into existing platforms and processes.
Contributing to technical design discussions while ensuring solutions align with security, governance and architectural standards.
Keeping up to date with developments in AI engineering, Agentic AI and emerging technologies
Essential Skills / Experience
Hands-on experience designing, building or implementing AI Agents or Agentic AI solutions.
Experience developing applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI technologies.
Strong software engineering skills with demonstrable experience writing, testing and reviewing code, ideally using Python.
Ability to translate business requirements into practical AI-powered technical solutions.
Desirable Skills / Experience
Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, Copilot Studio or similar agentic frameworks.
Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Gemini or related AI platforms.
Knowledge of machine learning techniques and model deployment.
Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise applications and data sources.
Exposure to SAP, SAP Joule or ERP transformation programmes.
Experience working within Agile or cross-functional product teams.
Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related discipline.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Curiosity, adaptability and a desire to continuously learn and explore emerging AI technologies.
