Salary: Up to £49,000 dependent on experience

Role description:
As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer, you’ll be embedded within a complex manufacturing environment, providing visible, hands-on assurance across critical mechanical installation activities. Supporting Mechanical systems such Exhausts, shaft lines and wider mechanical interfaces, you’ll work closely with production, engineering and quality teams to prevent defects, improve processes and drive right-first-time delivery. This is a varied, multidisciplinary role combining shop-floor presence, auditing and investigation, offering the chance to influence quality whilst developing your expertise across both mechanical and electrical installation environments..
Core Duties:
- Provide shop-floor QA support across critical mechanical installation
- Conduct audits, surveillances, process confirmations and quality investigations
- Identify risks early and prevent quality escapes through stakeholder engagement
- Analyse trends and drive improvement using NC, RFT and Pareto data
- Create quality alerts, toolbox talks and technical assurance presentations
- Support local production meetings and provide feedback to Quality Leads
Essential skills:
- Good background in mechanical manufacturing or installation, ideally in shipbuilding or heavy construction industry
- Auditor trained, with working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality management systems
- Experienced in quality tools such as RCA, CAPA, FMEA and continuous improvement methods
Quality Assurance Team:
Joining our Quality Assurance team on a complex shipbuild programme, you’ll work with experienced tradespeople and quality professionals from fabrication, electrical and manufacturing backgrounds. It’s a collaborative, supportive and highly visible team focused on preventing quality escapes and driving continuous improvement.
