Role Description:

The Project Manager will effectively engage stakeholders, lead a project team (may include industry partners) and manage sub-contractors/ consultants to achieve the required customer and company outcomes for straightforward to complex projects through the application of Project Management (PM) disciplines in accordance with the BAE Systems Australia PM framework. In the conduct of assigned duties, the Project Manager must maintain the goodwill of the customer, industry partners, BAE Systems Australia management and provide effective leadership to the project team.

Core Duties:

  • Carry out project reviews as required to meet project and internal company review requirements
  • Foster a positive and collaborative culture between key project stakeholders and the project team including the customer, industry partners, sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Build and maintain a trusted relationship with the customer by being a focal point for customer contact
  • Ensure all project requirements and/ or objectives are properly documented in a business case and/ or project brief, as appropriate and vigorously pursued
  • Establish appropriate key success indicators and recommend trade-offs between scope, quality, time and cost
  • Ensure that products and services delivered as part of a project are in accordance with the Product Safety Policy and provide customer satisfaction
  • Identify project opportunities and risks and develop mitigation strategies for pursuit throughout contract phases. Monitor and report on the status of risks and opportunities
  • Authorised and responsible for raising and mitigating potential, or known, problems that affect the quality of products and services, to support a pro-active, prevention based approach to the delivery of quality outcomes
  • Responsible for providing input and offering recommendations for the improvement of Company processes and standard procedures

Essential Skills:

  • Significant (6+ years) relevant experience in project management within an engineering organisation. Experience in Project Controls or Control Account roles previously preferred but not required.
  • Experience building collaborative relationships with external stakeholders including customers
  • Prior or current experience using Open Plan Professional or Primavera P6 preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to work with and building collaborative relationships customers, industry partners, suppliers and government authorities, with the ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/ or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
  • Ability to motivate individuals and teams across a number of business areas, to deliver project requirements
