Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Location: Portsmouth Broad Oak – Onsite only

Salary: Up to £62,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • To lead a team of multidiscipline professional Manufacturing Engineers, planning and co-coordinating their activities to meet departmental and business requirements
  • Manage the interfaces between Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Manufacturing Operations and other stakeholders
  • Provide specialist advice, product or process knowledge and output requirements
  • Manage scheduling, planning, budgets, performance, task management, delegation, activity delivery, configuration control stages and detailed gate reviews and governance of outputs prior to formal release
  • Chair technical meetings and reviews as necessary, that support the Manufacturing Engineering end deliverable
  • Audit compliance to mandated procedures etc.
  • To provide supporting information to Senior Management to determine the team resourcing requirements and to maintain the correct manning levels in line with the agreed Engineering Plan
  • Lead the development of business justifications to implement new and replacement technologies / equipment whilst utilising innovation and creativity to solve problems and implement continuous improvement
  • Take responsibility for training and development of the whole team (with attention directed towards achieving professional accreditation)

Your skills and experiences:

  • HNC with extensive Manufacturing Engineering experience OR Appropriate degree with some Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Consistently deliver results within agreed timescales and budget, prioritising safety at all times, supported by a strong understanding of IOSH and NEBOSH principles
  • Ensuring that manufacturing data packs comply with the Engineering design intent and are transferred into the manufacturing factory system in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, supported by Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt), APQP knowledge, or equivalent expertise
  • Proficient in SAP or similar ERP systems, with a strong understanding of their application in business processes and data management

Manufacturing Engineering Team

The purpose of Manufacturing Engineering is to develop, implement and govern capable methods of manufacture, assembly, disassembly and repair (including method of verification) which can meet customer and business requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance to design intent

As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a Manufacturing Engineering team, either in a project or functional area, to Design, Define, Modify, Optimise and Govern the Manufacturing, Assembly Build and Test processes to enable safe and predictable delivery of the design intent to cost and schedule
