ICT Systems Engineer

Job Location: SA-Edinburgh Parks. The role can also be based at Melbourne. This is an onsite role and 9 day fortnight working arrangement can be considered.

Role Description:

Reporting to the ICT Engineering Manager, you will undertake all assigned ICT activities, including related documentation, in accordance with the applicable plans, procedures, processes, standards and SLAs.

You will Lead the technical planning, integration and systems engineering lifecycle management of multi-discipline ICT systems.

Core Duties:

  • Manage ICT systems lifecycle activities including, releases and transitions
  • Owning the process and outcome of product releases to sustainment
  • Manage the Validation and Verification of ICT releases
  • Contribute to technical assurance, design reviews and governance
  • Collaborate with project management, external stakeholders and technical teams on the systems engineering aspects of ICT projects
  • Ensure systems comply with organisation security, regulatory and operational requirements
  • Liaising with Support teams to contribute to Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) and Failure Mode Effect & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in engineering, information technology, computer science, or other related area; or Diploma in applicable technical domain
  • Familiar with engineering toolsets to support system modelling, configuration management, requirements management and task tracking
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle concepts and the engineering V model
  • Understanding and bridging the concepts of the system and product breakdown structures
  • Proven ability to function confidently within a project team environment with demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomously
  • Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
  • Defence security clearance NV1 or eligibility to obtain
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations

The Team

JORN, HF and CANADA

The High Frequency Sensing team is part of the BAE Systems Defence Delivery Business Unit and delivers advanced Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) capability across the full lifecycle, spanning acquisition, sustainment and research and development – with all design wholly undertaken within Australia. It brings together expertise in large and medium scale wide area surveillance systems to support sovereign capability and operational readiness for Australian and international export customers. It is an exciting time to join the team with major upgrades occurring for Australian and US customer systems, evolving sustainment focus to ensure capability readiness for the Australian Defence Force customer, and mobilisation of a major export acquisition program to Canada, as well as future growth opportunities constantly on the go. We are structured as two product portfolios, proudly providing exciting opportunities to our people and critical capabilities to our Australian and international customers.

Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and Arctic Over The Horizon Radar

The Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a connected series of three remote over-the-horizon radars (OTHR) located in Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia. The state-of-the-art defence radar system provides wide-area surveillance at ranges of 1,000 to 3,000 kilometres and plays a vital role in supporting the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) air and maritime operations, border protection, disaster relief, and rescue operations.

As the Australian Government’s Over The Horizon Radar (OTHR) industry partner for JORN, BAE Systems is looking to mobilise an exceptional team to support a ground-breaking Defence export opportunity for the nation.
