Senior Planner – APM Terminals - North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Transformation Project

The Project:
APM Terminals is undertaking a significant acquisition and capital container terminal expansion & transformation project at the North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) Container Terminal. The purpose of the project is to;
- Fully integrate NTB into the APM Terminals portfolio.
- Modernize and upgrade the terminal by the introduction of new equipment, updating the infrastructure & IT / OT systems and the implementation of a new operating model
- Support growth in the existing container terminal business and expand the business value and proposition for Maersk
To support the successful delivery of the project, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Planner to join our team. The successful candidate will draw upon project and industry experience to form part of a high-performing project team working across several construction, automation, equipment, and integration workstreams. Excellent teamworking skills are a prerequisite, and we are looking for candidates with a particular focus on collaboration, across a technically and culturally diverse business and group of stakeholders.
Role overview:
The Senior Planner Engineer is a key member of the team
A source of one-truth on Planning & Scheduling. Transparent and purposeful communication is essential. This will include internal (the broader project team) and external (broader APMM and external) stakeholder communication. Building rapport, project-wide commitment (to accurate reporting and planning) and psychological trust will be critical to providing accurate information. Strong schedule problem solving abilities including a strategic planning mindset and active risk management with an ability to identify opportunities to improve reliability in delivery of the agreed scope of work A driving force for proactive and effective schedule management. To facilitate the management of project performance. This means a strong knowledge and responsibility for reporting on leading and lagging indicators.
The role will be onsite, based in Bremerhaven, Germany.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development
- Develop, maintain, and control the integrated resource loaded project master schedule in Primavera P6 / OPC, in accordance with APMT standards.
- Integrate and assess schedules received from consultants, contractors, suppliers and vendors into a coherent and consolidated master schedule.
- Establish and maintain the project baseline schedule, including logic, milestones and interface points, reporting on any deviations and implementing structured change management.
- Identify, analyze and communicate critical path, near critical paths, key interfaces and risks to deliver to the agreed baseline schedule.
Schedule Controls, Risk, Reporting & Change
- Establish schedule performance metrics - produce progress S-curves and other monitoring tools like critical path and variance tracking for performance reporting.
- Support the change management process through time impact assessments and schedule updates, aligned with project governance.
- Lead planning and risk workshops with a focus on identifying potential schedule impacts and response actions.
- Support the implementation of visual management tools to communicate the status of key milestones, deliverables, critical path and interfaces.
Interfaces & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with planners from Consultant and Contractor teams to validate logic, progress and forecast assumptions.
- Work closely with the Building the Asset team/ Business Integration & transformation teams ensuring that:
- dependencies from elements (e.g. external permits, enabler projects) affecting asset delivery and business readiness are well understood and,
- the Work Package Leads and Business Integration & transformation Team understand impacts of schedule changes on their project deliverables.
- Works with and reports to the Project Controls Manager to ensure seamless alignment of the project master schedule with the wider project control disciplines (cost, risk, change, scope, assumptions, reporting etc.)

Key experience, skills and qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum 10-12 years of proven experience in planning and scheduling discipline on large, complex construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 / OPC in an integrated, multi-party environment.
- Experience developing and managing master schedules, including interfaces across multiple work packages.
- Experience in schedule resource loading and monitoring performance using Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
- Advanced Spoken & Written Communication skills
- English (essential)
- German (preferred)
- Primavera P6 (required)
- MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) (required); Power BI (advantageous)
