Job Description

APM Terminals

Executive – Roster

APM Terminals Mumbai (GTI)
Division: Operations
Reports to: Assistant Manager – Roster

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth. What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

About APM Terminals Mumbai (GTI)

APM Terminals Mumbai, also known as Gateway Terminals India (GTI), is India’s busiest container terminal, handling a significant share of the nation’s containerized trade. Located at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (Nhava Sheva), GTI is known for its advanced infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and commitment to efficient, safe, and sustainable operations.

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement means every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers by continuously refining how we work. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

  • Gain exposure to operational management and manpower planning within terminal operations.
  • Develop knowledge of yard and vessel planning systems and the financial aspects of terminal operations.
  • Build experience working with operational, Training, HR and IT teams.
  • Develop skills and experience that can support progression toward Sr. Executive – Roster or Assistant Manager – Roster roles.

Key Responsibilities

As Executive – Roster, you will support smooth terminal operations by effectively planning and administering workforce schedules for operational teams. You will:

  • Prepare daily and monthly work schedules for Terminal Equipment Operators (TEOs) and other operational staff.
  • Administer annual leave, overtime and shift adjustments through the Time & Attendance system, including Kronos.
  • Monitor attendance, sick leave and absenteeism, and coordinate with IT to resolve attendance-system issues.
  • Collaborate with Shift Managers and Berth Coordinators to support effective manpower and resource allocation.
  • Support payroll processes by validating attendance and incentive data and submitting accurate inputs to HR.
  • Manage incentive calculations through TRU BI, prepare monthly reports, and maintain relevant performance records for TEOs.
  • Coordinate with Training and HR teams to make employees available for courses and development programmes, while providing performance inputs for reviews.

What We Are Looking For

  • Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.
  • Relevant experience: Minimum two years of experience as a timekeeper or in manpower planning, preferably within a container terminal or transport environment.
  • Education: High school diploma is required; a college degree is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of timekeeping methods, attendance systems and basic accounting, with familiarity with Kronos, TRU BI or similar attendance/resource planning systems.
  • Digital skills: Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Access.
  • Core capabilities: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, numerical aptitude, and good verbal and written communication skills in English and the local language.

Safety is non-negotiable at APM Terminals. You will be expected to actively promote and follow safe working practices while complying with applicable company standards, legal requirements and processes. You will also uphold our core values of Constant Care, Uprightness, Humbleness, Our Employees and Our Name.
