Job Description

APM Terminals

Chief Finance Officer – Nigeria

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

At APM Terminals, a global leader in port and terminal operations, we enable global trade and drive sustainable growth.

What drives us forward is a mindset of always improving — observing how work happens, identifying what creates value, and removing what gets in the way. We constantly look for smarter, simpler, and safer ways of operating. If you thrive in environments where people value learning and are committed to continuously improve daily operations, join us and be a part of our journey.

What We Can Offer

At APM Terminals, we foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to improvement is driven by Lean principles, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers. Experience a diverse, multinational workplace where your operational insights directly influence how we work.

In addition, you'll benefit from:

  • Join the Executive Leadership Team of one of APM Terminals' most strategic markets, influencing the future of trade and logistics in Nigeria.

  • Partner with senior regional and global leaders on strategic investment, business growth and operational excellence.

  • Develop your leadership capabilities within a collaborative, multinational environment that values continuous improvement.

  • Build a long-term career with opportunities across APM Terminals and the wider A.P. Moller–Maersk Group.

About the Role

As Chief Finance Officer for Nigeria, you will provide strategic financial leadership across APM Terminals' Nigeria cluster, partnering with the Country CEO, Regional CFO and Leadership Team to drive sustainable growth, strengthen governance and enable informed business decisions.

Based in Lagos, you will lead the finance organisation supporting operations across Apapa, Onne, Kano and San Pedro while working closely with regional and global finance teams to deliver operational excellence, robust financial stewardship and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with executive leadership to shape business strategy, investment decisions and financial performance across the Nigeria cluster.

  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management to support sustainable business growth.

  • Ensure strong financial governance through accurate reporting, statutory compliance, treasury, tax and working capital management.

  • Strengthen enterprise risk management, internal controls and governance frameworks while driving timely resolution of audit actions.

  • Build and develop a high-performing finance organisation by coaching talent, strengthening succession and fostering collaboration.

  • Champion Lean thinking and the APMT Business System to improve efficiency, simplify processes and embed a culture of continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For

Continuous improvement mindset: We are looking for someone who brings a thoughtful improvement mindset—curious about how work gets done and motivated to make meaningful, sustainable improvements over time.

Leadership expectation: We are looking for people who consistently put customers first, lead by example with respect for people, deliver results with integrity, and drive continuous improvement by solving problems at the root, developing people, and raising standards every day.

You will also bring:

  • Significant leadership experience in Finance within a multinational or complex business environment.

  • Strong expertise across financial planning, accounting, treasury, governance, tax and enterprise risk management.

  • Proven experience partnering with executive leadership to influence business strategy and organisational performance.

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing finance teams across complex organisations.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

If your experience aligns with most of the role requirements—even if not every qualification—we encourage you to apply. We value diverse experiences, perspectives and leadership styles, and believe they help us build stronger teams and better outcomes.
