We are looking for an Engineer to work as an Electrical Safety Specialist as part of the Product
Regulatory Compliance (PRC) team in Airbus Defence and Space Romania. The role mission is to
lead the Electrical Safety compliance activities within the larger PRC exercise, ensuring that our
products meet the essential requirements of the European Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and
harmonized standards. You will be the bridge between design and compliance, responsible for
validating electrical designs, creating testing protocols, and verifying/executing physical tests to
prove safety in the context of CE Marking.

What is a PRC Safety Engineer?

Put simply, after a minimum period of on-the-job training, you’ll be the expert who verifies and
validates the electrical safety compliance status of a Project/Product. You will specifically focus on
Electrical Safety compliance as a core requirement of the European Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
and harmonized standards.

PRC Safety Engineer experience and skills:

Engineering Background: You must be an engineer with a minimum of 3 years of experience in
electrical engineering (either in field operations or design).

Standard Implementation: Ability to study best practices and standards (e.g., EN/IEC standards
harmonised under LvD) and implement their requirements in specific product environments.

Effective Communication: Ability to communicate technical compliance solutions to product teams to
ensure their Project/Product meets compliance.

Mindset: A strong mindset towards safety and a proactive, self-disciplined approach to assessing
technical risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Validation: Performs verification and validation of electrical designs to ensure compliance with the Low Voltage Directive and harmonized standards.
  • Testing Protocols: Creates specific electrical testing protocols and verifies test results.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proposes compensatory measures for risk reduction, including redesign or administrative measures when necessary.
  • Hands-on Execution: Executes physical electrical tests in the field and provides guidance/coaching to other field engineers in performing these tests.
  • Technical Documentation: Generates engineering artefacts and organizes the contents of the PRC Record (Technical File) including Hardware Hazard Analysis.
  • Liaison: Acts as the primary specialist for Electrical Safety, coordinating with Project/Product teams through other PRC Stakeholders involved.
  • Decision Making: Has the ability to make independent decisions in solving technical problems related to electrical compliance
  • Supports evolution of PRC across AD, by providing operational feedback to PRC Governance organization, gives strategical feedback to team management;
  • Keeps up to date with latest templates, procedures and best practices, respects AD specific internal PRC process and rules as well as Operational PRC team internal procedures
  • Guides/ coaches team members in technical matters

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related technical area.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of practical experience in electrical design or field engineering.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Good familiarity with EU Directives on CE marking, strong knowledge of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and safety-related standards.
  • Language: English language at a minimum business level.
  • Practical Skills: Capability to use electrical testing equipment and interpret technical data.
  • Travel: Ability to travel within and outside the country based on business needs (e.g., electrical field testing/site visits)

Competencies:

  • Certifications: Any official certification in the electrical field or regulatory compliance is a major plus.
  • Systems Engineering: Knowledge of Systems Engineering or quality frameworks is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Good organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Good written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working in a multicultural environment / as part of an international team
