In order to provide high-fidelity training simulation, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Modeling & Simulation - System Engineer (d/f/m)

capable of driving requirements definition and cross-functional alignment.

You will join a team of experienced engineers and experts to jointly define, implement and integrate complex simulation sub-systems in the domain of sensors and weapons. Our engineers are closely collaborating with other departments and external suppliers in order to provide solutions for high-fidelity trainings systems, with current focus on the Eurofighter pilot training simulation system PSTS.

Your responsibility will focus on the definition and alignment of requirements related to sensors and weapons for the development of high-fidelity training solutions. Besides the close cooperation with the specialists from the sensors and weapons team, you will collaborate with other teams of the simulation departments, operational factors and external suppliers with the goal to harmonize the training needs with the feasibility of technical solutions and the interdependencies to related components.

Major Role & Responsibilities

  • Elicitation of sensor and weapons requirements derived from system-level requirements
  • Definition and alignment of requirements with technical specialists and external stakeholders
  • Assessment of the interdependencies between components and their requirements
  • Maintenance of traceability between requirements, process inputs and design
  • Harmonization of training needs with the limitations of technical solutions
  • Process improvements and generation of meaningful views and metrics for traceability-, coverage and progress measurement
  • Ensuring the development goals and system functionality, initiating corrective measures if needed

Specific & Technical Skills / Experience Required

  • Sound knowledge of
    • Systems engineering in particular regarding requirements definition (incl. Tools such as DOORS)
    • SW design and SW Architecture
    • V-model based SW development process
    • System integration processes
    • Interest in scripting and automation (experience in that area is a plus)
  • Relevant work experience and understanding of sensors and weapons in military aircrafts and/or real-time simulation systems
  • IT literate (MS Office applications)

General Skills / Experience Required

  • Educated to degree level in computer science or engineering
  • Good language skills in English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining close, effective collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Capability to respond to changes in activities and priorities
  • Good communication skills with an ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in the alignment with and coordination of partners and suppliers
