DevOps & QA Engineer (d/f/m) - Infrastructure and Quality for Safety-Critical Software

To shape the future of autonomous systems, Airbus is pooling its strengths in artificial intelligence and autonomy. For this purpose, we are establishing a new, agile Competence and Development Center at the traditional technology site of Tesat in Backnang. In this environment, which combines decades of expertise in space technology with the dynamism of a startup, we are developing the next generation of AI-powered defense and dual-use applications.

As a DevOps & QA Engineer, you are the crucial enabler for our entire development team. You not only build the highly automated cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines but also establish the processes and frameworks that guarantee the highest software quality. Your work enables us to develop quickly and agilely without ever compromising on the security and reliability of our mission-critical systems.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Build and manage our sovereign cloud infrastructure using tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • CI/CD & Automation: Design and optimize our CI/CD pipelines (e.g., with GitHub Actions) for a fully automated build, test, and deployment chain
  • Test Strategy & Automation: Implement a holistic test strategy and build automated test frameworks (unit, integration, E2E tests).
  • Monitoring & Reliability: Implement a comprehensive monitoring system (e.g., with Prometheus, Grafana) to proactively monitor System Health and performance
  • Security & Compliance: Integrate security scans and compliance checks into the pipeline ("Security-by-Design")


Desired skills and qualifications

  • A completed degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Profound experience as a DevOps, Cloud, or QA Automation Engineer (approx. 4-8 years)
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure), container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and IaC tools.
  • Solid knowledge of common test frameworks (e.g., Cypress, Pytest) and experience in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash)
  • A strong "Automate everything" mindset and an unwavering commitment to quality
  • Fluent in English, German skills are nice to have
